You’ll get plenty of chaos, close calls, and comebacks. Be sure to have a few friends (or enemies) handy when you download it. Gloating is encouraged and noise complaints just mean you’re playing it right.
TowerFall Ascension stays true to the original game with its intense 4-player battles. In Ascension there are 50 new Versus arenas to fight on, for a total of 120 unique levels, and a bunch of new variants to customize your matches with. There are a few new powerups too, which change the game up considerably. My favorite: drill arrows that burrow through walls.
Ascension also introduces the new 1 or 2-player co-op Quest mode. It’s an arena mode where monsters spawn from portals as you defend yourself using the same skills you’ve honed in Versus mode. Quest mode is an interesting new take on the same core mechanics, and adds a bunch of new content to explore even when you don’t have three friends around.
Challenge your friends to fight through the Dark World, with or against you, in this massive expansion for the acclaimed archery brawler. Through the portal you’ll find a wealth of new archers, powerups and arenas. Face an all-new 1-4 player co-op mode, or take the fight to Cataclysm, where levels shift into unique layouts every time you play. A perfect excuse to revisit the beloved indie fighter.
Dark World Features:
- The 4player coop Dark World mode, complete with 4 original boss fights and the brutal new Legendary difficulty mode. Also playable solo, or in groups of 2 or 3.
- Four brand new level sets for Versus mode. Each has unique elements that mix up your battles in interesting ways.
- The fourth and final level set uses procedurally generated levels to remain fresh for every rematch.
- Ten new playable archers! The red pirate Vainglorious Ghoul joins the cast, along with an alternate character for every archer.
- Two additional arrow powerups: remotedetonated Trigger Arrows, and otherworldly Prism Arrows.
- New variants, trials, awards, and more.
