'Games of Glory' Adds Functionality With Spectator Mode/Client

by Rainier on July 9, 2015 @ 3:30 p.m. PDT

Games of Glory is a multiplayer online battle arena game that looks to push the competitive genre into exciting new territory by fully integrating e-sports into the very heart of a persistent world.

Games of Glory brings a true community dimension to MOBAs presents a major breakthrough in the way MOBAs have been traditionally played, offering players the ability occupy several key roles within the e-sport universe, and such as tournament planners, club head, trainer, recruiter, and more.

In Games of Glory, players enter a vast, futuristic universe called Synarchy, and take control of champion Clones from clubs all over the galaxy, who fight to impose their supremacy. The Clones are armed with a large selection of unique skills and can a rich and brutal arsenal during the game, including close combat weapons, long range guns, and many more.  With many personalization options, the player will be able to customize his heroes thanks to numerous equipment pieces to make them both unique in appearance and deadly on their path to victory.

Realistic sports commentators punctuate the strategic tangles, major events, and fast-paced rhythms of each match, immersing players in a competitive environment. A reactive combat system (without auto-attacks or laning phases), is at the heart of Games of Glory's gameplay.

The first iteration of the new Spectating client, Spectator mode, lifts the fog of war allowing full visibility over both teams.  As this initial version does not include a delay feature, group leaders will be able to choose whether or not each match is open for "spectating". All players will be able to watch the open matches of anyone on their friends list!   The new pause feature, in addition to being useful for awaiting disconnected and "away from keyboard" players, can also be used by teammates to quickly discuss strategy, weapons and item purchases. It is also intended as a mentoring feature, allowing team leaders to coach new players.  Additionally, "referee mode" allows a game referee to pause the game for an unlimited duration of time; most useful in tournaments!

"We made the decision to create a Spectating Client after seeing the success of our last few live onsite tournaments at Dreamhack Summer, Gamer's Assembly, and Dreamhack France, as well as several online tournaments hosted by our partners AEFY eSport and ESL," said Anders Larsson, Co-founder of Lightbulb Crew.  "We saw a need in the community to make Games of Glory more tournament friendly, and we look forward to now being able to host even bigger and better tournaments!"

Games of Glory's spectator mode will be a continually evolving feature, with many new ideas already in development.

Two modes will be available at launch:

  1. The Superstar Game Mode in Svandia's Foundry: In this ultra-dynamic game mode, players confront one another in 1v1, 2v2, or 3v3 to try and eliminate their opponent's "Superstar" player, all the while protecting their own. Combat sequences are cadenced by a system of rounds, with each round lasting no longer than 80 seconds. The first team to win a total of 5 rounds will win the match.
  2. The Conquest Game Mode in Arkashan Arena: Capture a maximum number of points and hold them for as long as possible to overwhelm the opposing team and destroy their Energy Core. The Conquest mode can be played in 3v3, 4v4, or 5v5. No laning phases means combat in the very first seconds: players are thrown directly into the fray!

Key Features:

  • Action oriented combat mechanics driven by skill-based aiming in real-time
  • A system of free-aiming weapons, interchangeable at any moment in the heat of battle
  • Limitless combinations of equipment for personalizing Clones' appearance
  • A complete E-Sport ecosystem, built into the universe, where players manage their own clubs and can take on roles such as: star player, tournament organizer, club president, trainer, or recruiter
