Hero's Song is an open world rogue-like fantasy action/RPG in 2D pixel art.

Hero's Song is an open world rogue-like fantasy game done in beautiful 2D pixel art style. Create epic fantasy worlds uniquely shaped by your choices, the power of the gods, and thousands of years of history. Become a legendary hero in a dangerous and mysterious world of magic and monsters. Explore endless dungeons and ancient cities in long forgotten lands in search of knowledge, treasure, and the power of the gods!

In Hero's Song, players can control their own server and host thousands of other players (with up to hundreds playing at one time).

Pixelmage Games has assembled a talented group to create the universe and develop the game, including Bill Trost, Lead Designer and co-creator of the EverQuest franchise, and Patrick Rothfuss, New York Times #1 Best-Selling Author of The Name of the Wind. The core team is already 13 strong and will grow as production ramps up in the coming months.

Pixelmage Games has been in stealth mode since October while developing the core elements and prototype for Hero's Song. It has already raised $1M in funding from private investors and will use Kickstarter to raise another $800,000 to finish development. Pixelmage intends to deliver the game in October 2016, just nine months from now. The team has a track record of AAA quality games that reach massive audiences.

"Our goal with Pixelmage Games is to make extremely deep and hardcore games in a beautiful pixel art style with an incredibly deep multiplayer experience" said John Smedley, CEO of Pixelmage Games. "We're calling on the community to be a part of this project as we create a really unique game that we're sure fantasy RPG fans will really enjoy."

"A lot of people don't know that long before I tried to write a novel, I tried to write a computer game," said Patrick Rothfuss. "So when John asked me if I wanted to be a part of the project, I was flattered and excited. I've been playing games forever, and I know how stories work. This is a unique way for me to bring all my favorite things together. I've never done World building as part of a team before, and it's a lot more fun than I'd anticipated. I'm excited to be able to show people what we've come up with."
