Set during a single, endlessly-looping day within “The Sexy Brutale” – a stately English mansion converted into a bizarre casino and named by the enigmatic Marquis – players take on the role of elderly priest Lafcadio Boone.  To progress, Boone must hide, watch and learn the colorful stories of the other guests at the ball in order to save them from grisly deaths at the hands of the mansion’s staff.

By discovering the key moments and methods how each guest can be saved and gaining occult-seeming powers linked to their masks, Lafcadio is able to explore deeper and deeper into the mysteries of the mansion’s past and inhabitants to uncover the truth hidden at the heart of The Sexy Brutale.

Reginald Sixpence, also known as the “Clockwork Baron” is one of the cherished guests at the annual Masked Ball hosted at the Sexy Brutale casino mansion.

During an event usually filled with drinks, dancing and delicacies, the most exciting part of Reginald’s evening is almost certainly being shot messily to death with a rifle in the mansion’s chapel by one of the staff members.

But then, a horrible death is rather the fate of ALL the guests at the mansion at this particular party; perhaps the only truly strange thing is that tomorrow he’ll wake up and do it all over again.

Yes, for some, a never-ending masked ball that is the height of fashion (but also plumbs the depths of depravity) would be heaven on earth - but for others, it’s a hell that cannot be escaped.

But perhaps there is still hope.

As an elderly priest and the sole guest who seems unaffected by the time-loop, Lafcadio Boone must watch, wait, learn and act to free these poor souls from the last party of their lives.

The single-player, narrative-driven puzzle adventure is the debut of new UK developer Cavalier Game Studios who joined forces with Tequila Works in the Spanish studio's first ever co-production project. The concept was created by ex-Lionhead veteran Tom Lansdale and brothers Charles and James Griffiths, and an early build was shown to friends for responses and criticism, including creative director and CEO of Tequila Works, Raúl Rubio.
