Former Crytek Sofia Execs Create Black Sea Games

by Rainier on Dec. 27, 2016 @ 1:17 a.m. PST

Earlier this month Crytek announced that it was closing 5 of its studios, one of them Crytek Sofia, which it had acquired in 2008 when it was still called Black Sea Studios. Several former Crytek Sofia employees had already left in Nov. 2016 to found Black Sea Games.

While Black Sea Games is not a revival of the studio formerly known as Black Sea Studios, the new developer is headed by Vesselin Handjiev and Michael Peykov, the former being Black Sea Studios founder in 2001.

Our mission is to create hard-core games that will entertain you over and over again. We believe the best gaming experiences are coming from challenging the players with meaningful choices, while giving them the freedom to create (and share) their own in-game stories. Whether it is a “sandbox” or an “open world”, these are just words. We would know we did our job right,  when you feel like: “Ah,… just one more hour”.

Vesselin was leading the creation of titles such as TZAR: The Burden of the Crown, Knights of Honor, WorldShift and Arena of Fate and number of other, unannounced projects, while Michael was involved in pretty much all aspects of the technical side of a game creation.
