'Pox Nora' Launches Planar Disturbances Expansion, Also Coming To PS4 & Vita

by Rainier on July 27, 2016 @ 1:34 p.m. PDT

Pox Nora combines collectible trading card, tactical miniatures and fantasy roleplaying titles to create a unique online strategy game.

In Pox Nora, players build custom decks of cards that include equipment, spells, and playable characters called Champions. Next, cards are deployed across a persistent grid-based battlefield to destroy the opponent's shrine. Along the way, control points called Nora Fonts can be captured to stockpile resources needed to play more cards and Champions.

With more than 2,700 cards available, decks can be extensively tailored to match custom strategies or pre-made Public Decks can be selected to jump right into the fray.

Pox Nora will receive its 29th expansion. Pox Nora: Planar Disturbances  on July 27 for Windows and Mac.

Planar Disturbances will add 49 new runes, or collectible cards, including 32 champions and two limited-edition versions of existing runes. New equipment and relics like the Phalanx Marker, which provides moves that buff the owner and nearby friendly Champions, will make up the 15 additional runes.

More than 20 new abilities are also coming, including The Bind: Spells, which allows champions to gather buffs as they accumulate kills, and Sabotage which plagues an opponent's upcoming champion with negative conditions before they're put into play.

The expansion will introduce a questline that unveils a new threat lurking in the mountains of the mighty dragon Valdac. Those who brave this campaign will be rewarded with a limited-edition version of the fan-favorite champion, Commander Nisk.

Planar Disturbances will build upon the story arc introduced in the previous expansion, Spirits Beyond, which follows the ruthless efforts of the Arroyo, a spirit elemental species, to eradicate the Djinn race, which had previously evaded the Arroyo by fleeing into the realm of Pox. The Centaur race and its associated themes will also be more fully explored.

"Every developer hopes their game will be successful, but never in our wildest dreams did we imagine Pox Nora would enjoy such long-term success," said Linsay Craten, chief marketing officer, Desert Owl Games. "Planar Disturbances is our gift to the decade-long players, and we can't wait to welcome the PlayStation community into Pox Nora's universe."

Desert Owl Games will include this new 29th expansion, as well as the previous 28, in the PS4 and Vita versions of Pox Nora when it releases the title on those platforms in Q4 2016.
