Former Disney Infinity Developers Launch castAR Studio

castAR announced the formation of castAR Salt Lake City, a new mixed reality gaming and entertainment development studio driven by former Avalanche Software talent who most recently worked on the Disney Infinity franchise.

castAR Salt Lake City will more than double the size of the castAR game development team, underscoring the company’s commitment to launching the first dedicated mixed reality gaming and entertainment platform.

“Our new castAR SLC team has creatively-inspired talent that has delivered at the highest levels of quality. We’re excited to have them join us in creating a new generation of gaming through mixed reality experiences,” said Steve Parkis, President and COO of castAR.  “With their experience in bringing massive franchises to life through breakthrough interactive design, the addition of this team is our next bold step in launching a dynamic platform that will bring awe-inspiring mixed reality to households.”

Formed by former Avalanche software developers, this talented team has delivered world-class entertainment products through a unique and proven skillset of merging the physical world with the magical. castAR President and COO, Steve Parkis, who has led teams at the Walt Disney Company, Zynga and Storm 8, will have responsibility for the team and ensure that castAR Salt Lake City works hand-in-hand with the game team at the Palo Alto headquarters. castAR also recently announced Darrell Rodriguez, formerly President of LucasArts and COO of Electronic Arts Los Angeles, as the company’s new CEO, rounding out the visionary team that will be leading the charge towards the castAR retail launch.
