'Everspace' (ALL) Encounters Expansion Will Add New Ship, Weapons, And More - Trailer

by Rainier on Oct. 5, 2017 @ 8:35 a.m. PDT

Everspace is a roguelike 3D space shooter with a non-linear story and fast-paced shooter gameplay.

In Everspace, players awaken on board a battleship in a remote corner of our galaxy. They receive a mysterious command to appear at a specific place. Searching for the origins of their own existence and the unknown commander, they must fight their way through more and more new, uncontrolled territories where they will encounter other skilled combat pilots, who range from cooperative to hostile. Death will be a constant companion and constantly recurring flashbacks of the protagonist will gradually shine a light in the darkness of the mission.

During the course of the game, players will not only have to continually prove their combat skills, but also gather fuel and raw materials in order to travel to various star systems and repair and upgrade their equipment. The roguelike character of the game offers a quick and easy entry to the game and adds constant twists and surprises to the game events. Along with gameplaying skills, this also demands improvisation by players and provides an individual, always motivational game experience. Unlike in classic roguelikes, game progress is not completely lost at the moment of death, but rather remains available in the form of persistent upgrades.

The Encounters expansion will add over 10 hours of extra gameplay to the core game, and be released on Steam and GOG.com end of October, this year.

The expansion will feature a new player ship, the Colonial Sentinel, a medium fighter class ship, which will impress with some serious electronic warfare capabilities and a special shield, featuring twice as much capacity as the standard model. Space pilots will also be able to use a plethora of new weapons, devices and consumables to fool, distract, and defeat enemies in new ways.

All-new factory space stations add further gameplay mechanics to the game experience, by offering special on-the-fly services, like refining and converting resources, upgrading ship capabilities or minor repair jobs. Furthermore, daring space pilots will even be able to pay the Okkar Homeworld a visit. Along their journey, they will also encounter new types of enemies and new story characters, who will offer individual questlines.

Thanks to the roguelike core game loop in Everspace, all pilots will bump into them sooner or later, without having to finish the main story, first. Those who already beat the game entirely, will find a fresh motivation to get back into the game and find out about what these characters are up to and unveil further secrets in the galaxy.

As the project has to be migrated to UE4.17 to support Xbox One X, it will hit the Xbox One family in early February, 2018, together with a free update of the core game, supporting 4K and improved graphics at 1080p on Xbox One X.
