'Destiny 2' (ALL) Expansion I: Curse of Osiris Details Revealed #2

by Rainier on Nov. 22, 2017 @ 2:05 a.m. PST

Destiny 2 is a first-person action game that takes the player on an epic journey to defend humanity from annihilation.

Humanity’s last safe city has fallen to an overwhelming invasion force, led by Ghaul, the imposing commander of the brutal Red Legion. He has stripped the city’s Guardians of their power, and forced the survivors to flee. You will venture to mysterious, unexplored worlds of our solar system to discover an arsenal of weapons and devastating new combat abilities. To defeat the Red Legion and confront Ghaul, you must reunite humanity’s scattered heroes, stand together, and fight back to reclaim our home.

In Destiny 2, the last safe city on Earth has fallen and lay in ruins, occupied by a powerful new enemy and his elite army, the Red Legion. Every player creates their own character called a "Guardian," humanity's chosen protectors. As a Guardian in Destiny 2, players must master new abilities and weapons to reunite the city's forces, stand together and fight back to reclaim their home.

Destiny 2 – Expansion I: Curse of Osiris, takes place after the conclusion of the Destiny 2 campaign where you are dispatched to Mercury on a quest to find Osiris, the most powerful Warlock to have ever lived, to discover the answers humanity needs to fight back against the Vex.

Curse of Osiris adds a new chapter to the world of Destiny 2, expanding the universe by adding an all-new cinematic story with new and returning characters, a new destination to explore, Mercury and its Infinite Forest, a new social space to visit called the Lighthouse, new missions, new strikes, new raid content, new free roam activities, a world quest to complete, and more.

Here's a recap for the second Destiny 2, Expansion 1: Curse of Osiris Livestream, which broadcast last night on Twitch (if you missed the first livestream recap, check it here).

Content:

  • Biggest Public Event ever: In the Curse of Osiris, players enter a Public Event, which displays life on Mercury and is the largest and most rewarding Public Event we’ve ever created for Destiny
    • Gate-keepers will bethe focal point and once killed, players will be able to pick up keys as a way of progressing through the public event
    • With this Public Event, we have different islands which allow players to move around the environment, opening up space to other areas that you wouldn’t normally be able to get to when you’re patrolling
    • If you’re a solo player, Destiny 2 will introduce you to people to help you complete this activity
  • Lighthouse: Players will find significant changes to the lighthouse…
    • The Forge is a Vex weapon wall which shows players’ progression, helping you build various weapons which can be used as end-game weapons
    • There will be mysteries players can solve and piece together in the Lighthouse space and Brother Vance will provide new adventures, which will be the corner stone for players to explore Mercury
  • Heroic Adventures: Players can challenge themselves with Heroic Adventures, and modifiers are being added to the Adventures which change it up every time you play
  • Story Strikes: Players’ experiences will be changing with Strikes, and in EP1 there will be more Strikes shown as part of the main story which will tell players more about the Campaign
  • Go through the gate to the Infinite Forest:
    • The Infinite Forest is a large Vex simulation constructed to explore infinite possibilities throughout time and is the last place Osiris was last seen
      • The Infinite Forest offers players a different experience every time, and a great experience whether you’re exploring the past, present or future
    • Unlocking the gate: Ikora will set players through the forest in order to find demons and unlock the gate
    • New ways to explore Mercury – players will experience different versions of Mercury as we move through time, with the Infinite Forest acting as a pathway from the present day into simulated versions of the past, present and future, giving a sense of the unknown, of wonder
    • Adventures all have different combat races, i.e. - playing one for the Hive or the Fall and players will have a lot of variety. End caps are all hand crafted. Encounters are custom
      • Up and Up is one of the Adventures which takes you into the future. It takes players from the present day into simulation

Destiny 2 – Expansion I: Curse of Osiris is the first expansion to the Destiny 2 universe releasing Dec. 5, 2017 for PS4, PC, and Xbox One.

Power weapon ammo is only granted to the one player who pulls it. Working as a team is the key to victory.
