'Fire Emblem Warriors' (ALL) Free Update Adds New Content

by Rainier on Nov. 8, 2017 @ 11:40 a.m. PST

Fire Emblem meets the Warriors series in Fire Emblem Warriors.

Clash with legions of enemies as Marth, Xander, Corrin, Chrom, and other Fire Emblem warriors by unleashing over-the-top-powerful Dynasty Warriors-style moves. Take control of characters with distinct attacks, issue strategic commands, pair up warriors for stunning moves, and more in an epic tactical action game from the Hyrule Warriors team.

In the Kingdom of Aytolis, new heroes mystically collide with warriors from across the history of Fire Emblem, who must band together to face countless enemies and restore the mysterious Shield of Flames to stop the Chaos Dragon. Advance the story to unlock additional playable characters, each with different attacks, weapons, combos, and voiced dialogue. A combination of intense combat and strategic Fire Emblem gameplay offers a take on battling that’s new to the series. Switch between heroes anywhere on the battlefield and command them to victory. The materials and gold you earn in battle can be used to upgrade heroes, weapons, and more.

Unlock new playable heroes, each with their own unique moves, special attacks, weapon types, and voiced dialogue in this large-scale action game from the Hyrule Warriors team.

In addition to the paid DLC that starts to roll out in December, a free software update is coming to the Nintendo Switch and New Nintendo 3DS versions of the Fire Emblem Warriors game on Nov. 16.

After downloading the free software update, the following will be added to the game:

  • A new history map featuring main characters Rowan and Lianna
  • A new costume for Rowan and Lianna
  • Armor Strike, a new weapon attribute associated with destroying armor and causing a Broken Armor state
  • New Blessings to aid you in battle
  • The ability for the player to sell multiple weapons at once

Nintendo is committed to bringing new content to Fire Emblem Warriors, and this software update is a fun (and free!) first step. Starting in December, the first of three paid DLC packs will launch for the game, with the second and third packs launching in February and March, respectively.

A Season Pass, which includes all three DLC packs as they become available, can be purchased for $19.99. By purchasing the Season Pass for either the Nintendo Switch or New Nintendo 3DS version, you will also receive a bridal costume for Lucina. (The bridal costume can only be received by purchasing the Season Pass.) Each DLC pack adds three new playable characters, three new history maps, additional costumes, additional support conversations and additional weapons, and can also be purchased individually for $8.99 each.

Key Features:

  • Play and experience a new kingdom with original characters colliding with heroes from across the Fire Emblem universe
  • Battle as fan-favorite Fire Emblem heroes, like Chrom, Corrin, Ryoma, Marth, Xander and more, each with unique moves, special attacks, weapon types, and voiced dialogue
  • Pair up two hero characters as a single unit that can unleash devastating combos and even switch between these heroes mid-attack
  • With the classic weapons triangle, tactically choose and switch between Fire Emblem heroes to gain the advantage in combat against countless enemies

Fire Emblem Warriors is now available for Nintendo Switch at a suggested retail price of $59.99, with a special edition exclusively for the Nintendo Switch system at a suggested retail price of $79.99. The special edition includes the game, a premium character-card set with a slip case, a double-sided poster and a three-CD music set. The game is also available for New Nintendo 3DS, New Nintendo 3DS XL and New Nintendo 2DS XL (only playable in 2D) systems at a suggested retail price of $39.99

Also launching on Oct. 20 are two new amiibo figures based on popular characters Tiki and Chrom from the Fire Emblem series. (Each figure is sold separately at a suggested retail price of $12.99.) These, along with other compatible Fire Emblem themed amiibo figures, including Marth, Ike, Robin and Lucina, grant players weapons or in-game materials when tapped. All other available amiibo figures are compatible as well. Up to five different compatible amiibo figures can each be tapped once per day.
