'The Metronomicon' Coming To PS4 And Xbox One - Trailer

by Rainier on Feb. 21, 2017 @ 1:41 p.m. PST

The Metronomicon combines the strategy and story-led gameplay of an RPG with the fast-paced, button-tapping action of a rhythm game – all presented with a soundtrack featuring an eclectic mix of artists.

Face off in thumping musical showdowns against fearsome enemies by dancing to the beat, harnessing the powers of tunage to unleash powerful attacks in real time, turn-based-inspired combat. Build a party, equip your gear and level up to unleash your choice of each hero's special abilities. Each boss defeated unlocks more music, gear and power.

Mysterious dance parties are crashing down around the world of Koras, summoning dangerous party monsters wherever they fall. A group of heroes, trained in the rhythmic combat arts, must bring peace back to their world. Using the Metronomicon, a tome of immense musical power, they embark upon a daring quest spanning rock star-haunted castles, medieval party yachts and other rocking locations.

Packing in a fully-fledged story mode with a colourful cast of musically-empowered heroes and villains, The Metronomicon sees you take control a party of eight newly graduated masters of the “rhythmic combat arts” to wage musical warfare against a multitude of dance-mongering fiends. By switching between four concurrent hero-controlled tracks on-the-fly, you’ll select and activate a wide array of abilities, spells, buffs and nukes, with your performance and timing all-important in ensuring the effectiveness of your moves. In true RPG spirit, you’ll need to improve your characters’ stats, hunt down powerful equipment, and combine a multitude of abilities – switching between tanking, healing, buffing, and damage-dealing classes as required, in real time.

Multiplayer across all game modes, a new playable character and even more content to be announced will debut on consoles. The PC version will receive a free update, maintaining parity between all platforms.

"As an RPG with a laugh-out-loud story, strategic combat system, rhythm game control scheme and a rocking soundtrack, The Metronomicon is a game like none other," said Akupara Games Co-Founder David Logan. "We can't wait to share this epic adventure with the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One community."

Beyond the story-driven campaign, The Metronomicon features freeplay, arena challenges, a variety of sidequests, dailies, and multiple difficulty settings to provide players with countless hours of entertainment as they disco their way through the world of Koras, dishing out dubstep beat downs.

The Metronomicon features a fantastic, fully-licensed soundtrack featuring some of the hottest electronic, synthwave, chiptune and indie artists, including an exclusive track from Jimmy Urine of Mindless Self Indulgence, and an unreleased track from Shiny Toy Guns, along with tracks from YACHT, Perturbator, J-Punch, DJ CUTMAN, and many, many more. As much a soundscape as it is a soundtrack, the music behind The Metronomicon is set to be every bit as varied and exciting as the gameplay itself.
