'HEVN' Gets Delayed Until Later This Year

by Rainier on July 17, 2017 @ 8:07 a.m. PDT

HEVN is an immersive sci-fi game that fuses elements of adventure, action, simulation and survival to create an immersive story-driven title.

In 2128, the world’s population is struggling for a better future. The Earth is hot, overcrowded, and divided by technology. With no options left, Sebastian Mar decides to join a dangerous celestial mining mission light years away.

HEVN is a single-player first-person sci-fi adventure, set on an isolated planetoid orbiting a distant star. As an employee of Nomoni Incorporated, you'll navigate the physical and political dangers of a controversial mining mission, uncovering deeper secrets best left buried light-years from Earth.

Although assisted by robots and a central AI system, you’ll still have to use your ingenuity to survive. Watch your health, fatigue and mental state to make it by on this faraway rock. But as you find yourself caught up in a twisting story of interstellar intrigue, you might find yourself with more than your own survival on your mind...

HEVN is an adventure game that invites you to investigate a series of rich environments and uncover a complex and human story.

Originally planned for release this week (Wednesday 19 July 2017), HEVN will now ship later in the year as developers Miga seek to respond to feedback from players and the press.

A playable demo released last month was largely well-received, with positive hands-on previews from the likes of PC Gamer and God Is A Geek - but the developers have decided to address feedback and improve the game, ensuring the final release is as good as it possibly can be.

Feedback on the game's pacing, level design and user interface has been especially useful, they said.

"For a small team like ours, spending heavily on QA teams is unfortunately out of our budget, which is one of the reasons why getting a demo in front of players was so important to us," said HEVN co-creator Mat Mathews.

"The Steam community has been exceptional in helping us to track bugs, and both players and the media have helped us to think more about the way we're pacing and structuring the game, and how players interact with it."

Co-creator Larry Johnson added: "We're planning to iterate on the demo over the coming weeks and months, to keep a public log of what we're working on. It's never good to delay games but we want to share improvements with our players as we go.

"While this was a difficult decision to make, we're confident it's for the best, and that HEVN will be even better because of it."
