'Dying Light' (ALL) Gets New Distribution Platform, Rolls Out Free DLC

by Rainier on July 26, 2017 @ 1:40 a.m. PDT

Dying Light is a first-person, action survival horror video game with a portentous day-night cycle set in a vast open world.

During the day, players will traverse an expansive urban environment overrun by a vicious outbreak, scavenging the world for supplies and crafting weapons to defend against the growing infected population. At night, the hunter becomes the hunted, as the infected become aggressive and more dangerous. Most frightening are the predators which only appear after sundown. Players must use everything in their power to survive until the morning's first light.

Techland has just released a new free content for Dying Light as a lead-in to the previously announced 10 free DLCs within the next 12 months. Today's update, dubbed Content Drop #0, is available now for PC and will reach the console versions of the game in September alongside the first free piece of DLC. The company has also launched its community-focused digital distribution platform, Gemly, featuring additional exclusive content.

Dying Light’s Content Drop #0 includes a new faction of soldiers set to cause havoc in the Old Town; the Mutated Goon, a new zombie enemy; a new player outfit called ‘Hunted’; and a new weapon, ‘Harran Military Rifle’ (available exclusively via the Gemly platform). The new content is  available by updating to the latest version of the game.

Gemly is a digital distribution platform featuring exclusive content for Techland’s games, as well as a digital store offering titles from both Techland Publishing and third party publishers, and a community hub for the fans of Techland’s games (to be launched soon). To celebrate the release of Content Drop #0, Dying Light: The Following - Enhanced Edition is currently 60% off via Gemly.com.

“We have created Gemly as part of our wish to be closer to our fans and unite the whole Techland community in one place. At the same time, we want to keep our fans engaged and entertained - with Dying Light’s Content Drop #0 we’re paving the way for incredible experiences, offering new challenges and mysteries for our fans.” said Paweł Marchewka, Techland’s CEO

On top of the new in-game rifle, creating a free Gemly account gives players access to personalised newsletters, exclusive offers, and first-hand development updates about Techland’s titles. The platform will be continuously expanded with new functionalities, including  a dedicated support page, the community hub, and an in-depth statistics system for Dying Light and upcoming Techland games.
