Fall of Light is a story-driven dungeon crawler set in a world consumed by darkness.

"In the beginning, there was only an excruciating, screaming void, wherein twisted souls writhed about, imprisoned in nothingness. Then the darkness was pierced by Luce, and with her came warmth and order. The time of men had begun, and would last many eras. But the 14th era is one of Darkness…"

As Nyx, an old, retired warrior, evade the Shadows and find your way through the crooked corridors of gloomy dungeons, navigate the treacherous pathways of the darkened overworld and fight emissaries of darkness in long-forgotten temples. Many puzzles and deadly traps stand between you and your goal – to bring your daughter Aether to the last place on the face of Earth that still sees light.

Fall of Light takes the player into a dark world, where an old warrior leads his daughter towards the last remnants of sunlight. Only together will they be strong enough to defeat the enemies born from the Shadow. The lack of light in combination with stylized graphics underline the game’s grim atmosphere, both in the world above and the one below – the birthplace of the evil threatening to end the Era of Men.

A peek into the first levels of Fall of Light, made available through this public demo, will give players the opportunity to acquaint themselves with the atmosphere of the game, as well as some of the weapons that Nyx will be using throughout, his various battle stances, and more than a few enemies. But players should be aware that each enemy needs to be approached in a different manner, taking account of their speed, attack style and defensive maneuvers into consideration. Traps and puzzles are also a vital part of Fall of Light, so being well aware of the environment and keeping Aether close by is a must, as her help in solving certain puzzles is crucial.

RuneHeads have been working intensely on finalizing Fall of Light, as well as adding more content – the number of weapon classes now totals 10, the number of battle stances has been increased to 20, and the game now benefits from full English voice acting. Three alternative endings based on player decisions throughout the game increase the replay value, as does the option to play at Hardcore difficulty and restart the game in a ‘New Game +’ mode for a more challenging experience.

Inspired by games such as Dark Souls and ICO, Fall of Light rewards those who explore the world on their own and draw their own conclusions. Meet odd characters, search through every nook and cranny to unlock hidden secrets and learn more about the history and lore of the somber world around you. Pick your favorite combination of close-range weapons, crossbows and shields, determine your fighting stance and get ready to face hordes of crafty enemies. And above all, keep your daughter from harm, as she is the light piercing the darkness and the key to unlocking forbidden passages.
