'Semispheres' (ALL) Comes To Nintendo Switch Next Week - Screens & Trailer

by Rainier on Sept. 7, 2017 @ 8:12 a.m. PDT

Semispheres is a 2D puzzle game with a synth-led soundtrack that places dual realities at the heart of its challenge.

Featuring a bichromatic art style comprised of warm blues and oranges, a soundtrack by Sid Barnhoorn (composer of Antichamber and The Stanley Parable), Semispheres is a game that seeks to reunite two parallel worlds.

In Semispheres, each analogue stick controls a different avatar in environments that might initially appear identical but reveal profound differences crucial to progression. Portals allow the avatars to enter each other's reality, creating fiendishly complex inter-dimensional puzzles, with success reliant on methodical planning and skilful execution. It’s not all esoteric brain workouts, though. Tension is introduced through the sentries that guard these worlds, whose fields of vision you must evade in order to find safe passage and the eventual resynchronisation of the worlds.

"With its unique single-player split-screen mechanic, Semispheres challenges your mind by putting you in control of two characters at the same time,” said Radu Muresan, designer of Semispheres. “With a minimalist art style and a soundtrack by visionary composer Sid Barnhoorn, we are excited to launch Semispheres on the eShop for a new generation of Nintendo Switch players.”

Never less than a joy to spend time with, Semispheres’ synaptical environments soothe and challenge in equal measure, leaving you to ponder its parallel puzzles long after you’ve left the game world.

With fiendish puzzles that escalate in complexity, Semispheres presents a real challenge for both puzzle aficionados and newcomers to the genre alike. Yet the game’s beautiful audio and visual presentation ensure things never get too much, making it as soothing an experience as it is challenging.

Key Features:

  • More than 50 levels, each building on top of each other, culminating with fiendishly complex puzzles
  • Stealth-inspired gameplay, including abilities like noise-makers, portals, side-swapping, teleporting and more
  • Immersive ambient soundtrack by Sid Barnhoorn, composer for Antichamber, The Stanley Parable and Out There
  • Mesmerizing and soothing bichromatic art style comprised of warm blues and oranges
  • A heartwarming story about a boy and his robot, unfolding in parallel with the puzzle progression

Already available on PC and PS4, Semispheres will launch on the eShop for Nintendo Switch on September 14th in North America and Europe.
