'Terraria' (ALL) Gets Massive Content Update On PS4 And Xbox One

by Rainier on March 1, 2018 @ 12:50 p.m. PST

Terraria is a side-scrolling, action-adventure sandbox game, with an emphasis on crafting and exploration set in vast and vibrant worlds.

In Terraria, the very world is at players’ fingertips as they fight for survival, fortune and glory. Blending elements of classic action games with the freedom of sandbox-style creativity, Terraria is far more than a mere block-building game. In this side-scrolling adventure, a players' experience is limited only by their own imaginations as the world is theirs to shape and explore.

With a vast array of materials and items to collect, Terraria is far more than a mere block building game, gamers experience is limited only by their own imaginations; the world really is yours to shape and explore. Terraria puts an emphasis on crafting and exploration set in vast and vibrant worlds.

The 1.3 update bridges the content gap between console and PC by creating gameplay and visual parity across all versions. This release – the largest in the game’s history – also adds new content, features, modes, events, crafting and more to the world of Terraria.

The game is currently on sale for 70% on Xbox One, bringing the price down to $6.00 for new adventurers until Monday, March 5.

“Our teams have put an immense amount of work into this update so our fans on console will have access to all the same features and improvements available for PC, providing a truly fresh experience for even long-time players and allowing them to experience the game all over again,” said Neil Ralley, president, 505 Games.

The massive 1.3 update brings a lengthy list of long-awaited benefits to Terraria’s console players on Xbox One and PlayStation 4, including:

  • A host of new enemies and events to combat, defeat, and plunder for loot
  • Endgame Celestial Invasion Event and the Moonlord final boss encounter
  • Brand new underground biomes to explore – Granite, Marble and more!
  • New Expert mode designed to provide new challenges for even the most seasoned Terraria veterans -  with the promise of greater rewards
  • Updated crafting with multiple added item options
  • Changes to NPCs, as well as some new friendly faces
  • More than 800 new items to discover – bringing the total item count to more than 3500!
  • Numerous quality of life upgrades and features that until now were only available on PC

Players will also enjoy the benefits of a new codebase – rewritten from scratch – that will bring the Console version of the game far more in line with the PC version while respecting the gameplay elements that make console gaming unique.
