'Phantom Halls' Launches Kickstarter Campaign - Screens & Trailer

by Rainier on March 13, 2018 @ 10:57 a.m. PDT

Phantom Halls is a unique type of squad-based game that sees players take on the roles of multiple characters at once.

A group of teens enters a haunted mansion, and prepares to face the undead terrors that stalk the phantom halls. Squad up and survive the night using whatever you can find, but remember - you can’t kill what you can’t see, so be sure to bring a flashlight...

With fast-paced, action-packed gameplay and a 3D papercraft visual motif, Phantom Halls sees players take on the roles of multiple characters at once - with each character’s actions assigned to a different key. It’s a real-time Worms with the procedurally generated chaos of Spelunky - now playable in both single-player and co-op!

Exactly one year after its first alpha version launched on Steam Early Access, Phantom Halls today lands on Kickstarter, seeking £30,000, and announces a Halloween 2018 V1.0 launch.

Unlike with most Kickstarter campaigns, Phantom Halls is already a playable game, on-sale via Steam Early Access, with thousands of players already enjoying it. The game's Early Access phase has allowed developers Incendium to hone and evolve the experience, and provided enough resources to guide the game towards a Halloween 2018 launch either way -- but the aim of the Kickstarter is to make the game as good as it possibly can be in time for that launch, by making some of the game's part-time team full-time for the next few months, allowing for an even more refined V1 experience.

The Early Access edition includes a free Evil Dead 2 licensed content pack, allowing you to play as the groovy hero from the sky, Ash Williams - with his chainsaw and boomstick on hand (or stump!) to saw and blast through a series of unique Evil Dead 2 inspired quests being added throughout the Early Access period.

Creative director of Incendium Games, Llexi Leon, explains: "There’s really only so much that we can do with a small indie team working remotely and mostly part-time without dedicated funding. There’s so much we’d like to see in Phantom Halls and we’re doing our best to deliver the ultimate version of the game for players everywhere, ideally on every platform. Plus, having input from the community has made for a smoother and deeper gaming experience that we’re continually refining. We’d love to see a new group of players contribute to the community, providing a fresh set of eyes on the game’s campaign and another wave of player feedback in the run up to retail release."

Currently in Steam Early Access, Phantom Halls will be updated regularly with new features and content. Incendium will work directly with the community to prioritise updates and refine the game’s direction.
