'Everspace' (ALL) Gets Enhanced On Xbox One X With Improved Visuals And 4K Support

by Rainier on March 16, 2018 @ 2:22 a.m. PDT

Everspace is a roguelike 3D space shooter with a non-linear story and fast-paced shooter gameplay.

In Everspace, players awaken on board a battleship in a remote corner of our galaxy. They receive a mysterious command to appear at a specific place. Searching for the origins of their own existence and the unknown commander, they must fight their way through more and more new, uncontrolled territories where they will encounter other skilled combat pilots, who range from cooperative to hostile. Death will be a constant companion and constantly recurring flashbacks of the protagonist will gradually shine a light in the darkness of the mission.

During the course of the game, players will not only have to continually prove their combat skills, but also gather fuel and raw materials in order to travel to various star systems and repair and upgrade their equipment. The roguelike character of the game offers a quick and easy entry to the game and adds constant twists and surprises to the game events. Along with gameplaying skills, this also demands improvisation by players and provides an individual, always motivational game experience. Unlike in classic roguelikes, game progress is not completely lost at the moment of death, but rather remains available in the form of persistent upgrades.

ROCKFISH Games announced the release of the Enhanced Version of its 3D roguelike space shooter Everspace for Xbox One X.

As of now, the free patch is ready for download from the Xbox Store featuring the option of rendering in native 4K resolution at 30 fps or with 60 fps and improved level of detail distance settings as well as better shadow, shader, lighting, and VFX quality in native 1080p (instead of 83% screen resolution on the regular Xbox One).

“The Xbox One X is a beast of a console, and we are glad that it closes the gap to gaming PCs,” said Michael Schade, CEO and co-founder of ROCKFISH Games. "On console, Everspace has never looked any better and played more smoothly than on the Xbox One X, hands down."

"We’re super excited about Everspace Enhanced for Xbox One X, supporting 4K rendering, as well as improved visuals with super-smooth 60 fps gameplay in 1080p," said Chris Charla, Director ID@Xbox at Microsoft. "Everspace Enhanced is an awesome poster child for what Xbox One is capable of and we also look forward to the Encounters expansion coming out for the entire Xbox One family, too."
