'Archangel' (ALL) Hellfire Update Will Add New Game Modes, Maps, Mechs and More - Screens & Trailer

by Rainier on April 23, 2018 @ 8:49 a.m. PDT

Archangel is an action-packed, story-driven VR shooter where players are dropped into the cockpit of a six-story-high war-machine and stop a tyrannical corporation from taking over a post-apocalyptic America.

Set in a post-apocalyptic America during the year 2089, players choose to play the role of Gabby or Gabriel Walker, codename “Guardian,” who has been selected by the United States Free Forces to lead the resistance against the tyrannical corporation HUMNX, a private conglomerate that governs what is left of our ravaged nation. Players must use strategy and skill to fire upon enemies with a wide array of high-powered weapons while protecting their allies from onslaught.

Fire an array of weapons on each mighty mech arm, or smash enemy units with your massive fists when they stray too close. You’ll need quick reflexes to react to flying and ground foes attacking in never-ending waves, but you’ll need tactics too: Each high-tech HUMNX enemy has a different vulnerability. Plan your upgrades carefully as you unlock new state-of-the-art weapons. Your choices could mean the difference between success…and destruction.

Choose to be Gabriel or Gabby Walker, experienced combat ace, Archangel test pilot, and last best hope of The Free. You’ll fight more than HUMNX forces: You’ll face shadows from your past, reminders of the decisions that earned you the codename “Guardian” but cost more than you could bear. The newly forged mech AI, M1KL, experiences the world linked to your mind, seeing what you see, feeling what you feel. Together you’ll face overwhelming odds in a desperate battle to deliver this single Archangel prototype mech to the secret resistance facility Deep Mountain. Do you have what it takes to become the people’s deliverance?

Archangel: Hellfire delivers intense off-rails VR warfare and explosive combat, adding two new game modes, including a Cooperative Mode and by popular demand, a brand new Team Deathmatch / PvP mode, along with all-new maps, new classes of mechs.

Archangel: Hellfire will be available as a free update for players who own Archangel. For those new to the series and looking to enlist as mech pilots, Team Deathmatch will be available for free to all for a limited time, and will include the new mechs, abilities and PvP maps. Players who own the original Archangel will also be able to hone their skills in Team Deathmatch four weeks ahead of launch when Early Access Battle Training kicks off on May 25. To celebrate the upcoming launch of Archangel: Hellfire, the base game will soon be available to purchase at a discounted price.

“Archangel: Hellfire will deliver the most intense and immersive multiplayer mech combat that players have ever experienced,” said Peter Akemann, President of Skydance Interactive. “The team is working hard to bring the player-versus-player off-rails combat that fans have been asking for, and really embody that fantasy of piloting a giant building-sized mech. And with the free team PvP multiplayer experience, all VR gamers will soon have a chance to hop into the cockpit and prove their mettle.”

Archangel: Hellfire introduces the new Team Deathmatch mode, in which players and their squad will pilot six-story high war machines and engage in an all-out 2v2 PvP battle for the control of a post-apocalyptic world, aligning with either the United States Free Forces or HUMNX corporation. In addition, players can jump into Archangel: Hellfire’s Cooperative Mode, and face off against a horde of enemies in solo or co-op gameplay.

The game adds four new maps to face off in brutal post-apocalyptic battlegrounds with highly destructible features, six new warrior mechs and three distinct classes, each with their own powerful abilities and custom weapon systems, and all-new fully functional cockpit controls.

Archangel: Hellfire will be available worldwide on June 28 for HTC Vive and Oculus Rift.
