by Rainier on Aug. 10, 2018 @ 8:17 a.m. PDT

Earthworms is an artistic point & click game placed in surrealist world of science-fiction.

You play as private detective named Daniel White, who is endowed with parapsychic abilities. Visions that he gets, help him to solve investigations. At first glance, the case that you are part of is about missing teenage girl who's from small fishing village. With every next location, you will experience more and more weird situations and discover that everything is leading to big global conspiracy. If you think that is only summer walk through fishing village, you are wrong. This is an epic adventure which will blow your mind.

The gameplay in Earthworms to a large extent refers to classic point-and-click adventure games. As the authors of the game explain, in practice it is a mixture of logic puzzles and action based on interaction with objects. In the new production, the player takes on the role of Daniel White, a private detective who tries to find a missing person. However, the situation soon becomes more complicated and develops into a much more mysterious and supernatural character.

Earthworms is set apart by its artistic setting, which is rarely seen in the industry. One of the main inspirations for the creators is the paintings of Edward Hopper, one of the most important American artists in the 20th century.

A very important element in Earthworms is also the musical setting. Piotr Surmacz, a composer who has worked on smaller games as well as numerous documentaries and short films, was responsible for the soundtrack.

The game was redesigned specifically for Nintendo Switch, so apart from many other changes, you can play any way you like:

  • on touch screen,
  • with Joy-Cons/Pro Controller,
  • AND one handed: everything you need is found on a single Joy-Con!

We fixed a lot of minor bugs and glitches present in the PC version of the game. Apart from that, interface and input were redesigned specifically for Nintendo Switch. We changed text size, fonts, UI placements and animations. As for the input, the "magnetize" feature was implemented, which greatly improved cursor handling on mouse-free platform by snapping the cursor to the nearest object. One handed mode is also new; all the input features are present on one Joy-Con, both for game's accessibility and QOL.

Earthworms will be available for preorder on August 20th for $4.99/€4.99.

There will be a demo available as soon as the game hits eShop. Saves from the demo will carry over to the full game.

Key Features:

  • exploring and interacting with 34 painted locations inspired by Edward Hopper’s work
  • adventure in mysterious world which is a mix of pulp theme, surrealism and high-end science
  • a game with beautiful and epic soundtrack
  • lot of challenging logical puzzles as addition to classic inventory interactions
  • The Earthworms is a game which provides a thrill of horror mixtured with dose of humor, beauty, ugliness and most often weirdness. All because of that we do not like boring stories

Currently available on PC (Steam), Earthworms will be coming to Nintendo Switch on August 24th for $7.99/€7.99.
