'World of Warcraft: Battle for Azeroth' Update Adds New Content

by Rainier on March 13, 2019 @ 8:25 a.m. PDT

World of Warcraft: Battle for Azeroth is a new expansion to the Blizzard's massively multiplayer online role-playing game that will test players' resolve as they champion their faction's cause in a devastating new war.

The battle against the Legion has left the world broken—but the shattered trust between the Alliance and the Horde could prove the hardest wound to mend.

In Battle for Azeroth, the fall of the Burning Legion has set off a series of disastrous incidents that reignites the furious rivalry between the noble Alliance and the mighty Horde. As a new age of warfare begins, Azeroth's heroes must set out on a harrowing journey in search of new allies, race to claim the world’s mightiest resources to turn the tides of war, and fight on several fronts to determine which side will lead Azeroth into its uncertain future.

Azeroth reels in the wake of the Legion’s devastating assault, and the emergence of a powerful new resource—Azerite, lifeblood of the wounded planet—has brought the Alliance and the Horde to the brink of war.

Players who choose to level up a new Allied Race will also be able to enjoy World of Warcraft's recently revamped level 1 to 100 questing experience. Building upon a popular feature introduced on the Broken Isles in Legion, zones across Azeroth, Outland, and Draenor now scale to a wide range of character levels, making it so players can enjoy the quests, stories, and other content at their own pace. Those who complete the full level 20-110 experience as an Allied Race character will also earn that race's distinctive Heritage Armor—a set of cosmetic gear that represents their dedication to finding their people's place in Azeroth.

In the latest content now available in World of Warcraft: Battle for Azeroth, two Allied Races join the fight, new Tools of the Trade bring twists to players’ professions, and a mystery is brewing at the Brawler’s Guild.

Play as a Zandalari Troll or Kul Tiran Human

Over the course of countless trials and on the frontlines of the Battle of Dazar’alor, the heroes of the Alliance and the Horde have forged unbreakable bonds with their new Kul Tiran human and Zandalari troll allies. Players who’ve proven their worth can now officially recruit and play as one of these proud Allied Races.

Master Your Craft with Tools of the Trade

Players with crafting professions can now embark on quests to earn special Tools of the Trade that provide unique bonuses or abilities. Mend the fabric of reality and gather cloth displaced across time with Synchronous Thread for Tailoring. Siphon the blood of the dead and write Blood Contracts with the Sanguine Feather Quill of Lana’thel for Inscription. Harness the might of the titans to forge indestructible gear with the Khaz’gorian Smithing Hammer.

Big Trouble at the Brawler’s Guild

The secretive Brawler’s Guild has long been the site of some seriously seedy activity—but the latest turn of events represents a whole new level of shady. Can you solve the mystery of who murdered the guild’s quartermaster in an all-new Brawler’s Guild quest line?

War, Magni, and More

The new update includes even more for players to discover across Azeroth, including the next quests in the ongoing War Campaign and the latest developments in Magni Bronzebeard’s mission to heal the planet’s wounds.

Starting on April 17, players will be able to confront the horrors lurking below Stormsong Valley in the Crucible of Storms—an upcoming two-boss raid that will lead in to the story of Battle for Azeroth’s second major content update, Rise of Azshara.

This update also includes other scheduled events and activities that will start appearing in the weeks and months ahead, including a thrilling new roller coaster to ride when the Darkmoon Faire rolls in; brand-new holidays to look forward to, like the Wanderer’s Festival in Pandaria and the aptly named Free T-Shirt Day; and more.

World of Warcraft: Battle for Azeroth includes new features and content that will put heroes’ dedication and fortitude to the test. In this expansion, players will be called upon to:

  • Explore Two Fabled Kingdoms: As a champion of the Horde, travel to the Zandalar empire to persuade the trolls to lend their naval might. As a defender of the Alliance, venture to the seafaring kingdom of Kul Tiras, home of Jaina Proudmoore, and rally its inhabitants to fight for your cause.
  • Recruit Allied Races: Take a new form for your adventures as several new playable Allied Races, each with unique racial abilities. Earn the favor of the Highmountain tauren, Void elves, Dark Iron dwarves, and others to create a new character of that race and add their strength to your faction.
  • Plunder the Islands of the Great Sea: Scour Azeroth’s myriad uncharted Islands and conquer an ever-changing array of enemies, environments, and objectives. Battle in groups of three as you race against cunning rival intruders—or enemy players—to collect each island’s resources and fuel the war effort.
  • Charge Into the Warfronts: Fight on the battlefields of a large-scale, 20-player cooperative Warfront to claim a key strategic location. Capture resources to build your faction’s forces, lead the charge as your troops lay siege to objectives, and fight the enemy commander to claim victory in this new PvE mode inspired by classic Warcraft RTS battles.
  • Infuse Your Armor with Titanic Might: Seek out Azerite, an invaluable new resource that has emerged in the Legion’s wake. Imbue the Heart of Azeroth—a legendary neck piece entrusted to each hero by Magni Bronzebeard—with Azerite to customize your armor with new powers and traits.
  • Battle to Level 120: Trace the corruption of the Blood God to the Underrot, unearth the secrets of a lost titan vault, escape from the Drust Realm of the Dead, and more as you quest through 10 new levels—then continue to grow in power through new World Quests, raids, dungeons, and more.
  • Instantly Boost to Level 110: Enter the raging conflict between the Horde and the Alliance prepared to survive on the front lines of a vicious new war.
  • Connect Through Communities: Join up with WoW® players who share common interests in persistent cross-realm Communities. Share strategies with members of your class, fraternize with auction house magnates, talk shop with fellow tailors, and expand your social circles.
