'Gamedec' $100K Kickstarter Goal Unlocks New Virtual World, Next Stretch Goal Unlocked

by Rainier on April 6, 2020 @ 10:07 a.m. PDT

Gamedec is an adaptive, cyberpunk RPG game where you play a private detective who solves crimes committed in virtual game worlds.

It’s Warsaw City in the 22nd century, and thanks to the existence of virtual worlds, "reality" is a relative concept, and "life" and "death" have many meanings. New worlds, however, give rise to new problems. Desire, jealousy, greed, and lust for power are ever present. Many things have changed, but human nature is not one of them. That’s why society in the 22nd century needs Gamedecs – detectives who handle frauds, crimes, and conspiracies committed in virtual worlds. Child slavery in F2P games, the suicide of a professional player – cases like that are what they deal with on a daily basis. In the new Anshar Studios game, the player becomes one of these detectives.

The reality of the XXII-century is challenging – people live in cage-like cities separated from nature, which has turned hostile. The world is ruled by multi-billion-dollar corporations. To escape their daily misery, people immerse themselves in virtual worlds, hoping to find relief, enjoyment, and adventure. But wanting more leads to new problems, and someone has to solve them – a gamedec. As a game detective, you take cases from distressed and spoiled customers, discovering intrigue and revealing the truth. Your decisions won’t be easy to make – some choices will feel right, while others might surprise you. Each decision you make shapes the game world and your character’s personality.

In Gamedec, every decision is important, and the world around you constantly adapts to the decisions you make. The hero also adapts as the story progresses. Just like in “real” life, the consequences of your choices can be immediate, long-term, or even hidden – the latter most often surfacing when you least expect. Regardless of the decisions you make, the game will always remain neutral toward them. It’s up to you to evaluate them, bearing in mind the saying “you are the sum of your choices.”

Anshar Studios’s new game returns to the foundations of the RPG genre by adding mechanics like Deduction, Codex, and Aspects to allow for complex discussions, as players create or expose networks of conspiracies while discovering unusual relationships between virtual worlds.Gamedec’s paper-based RPG mechanics give players the freedom to approach situations from multiple perspectives, rather than by finding a single solution – the choice is ultimately theirs to make.

Fight conversational duels, discover or create schemes of deception, save lives, and investigate the extraordinary relationships between virtual worlds and their inhabitants. Gamedec emulates the nature of tabletop RPGs by focusing on character development through decision making. Like in classic tabletop RPGs, you are given the freedom to approach situations from multiple angles rather than forcing a single solution – remember that the choice is yours and yours alone.

Earlier this week Anshar has launched a Gamedec Kickstarter campaign, looking to raise $50,000.

Gamers around the globe needed only 36 hours to collectively raise $50,000 and fully fund Gamedec – a story-driven, cyberpunk-themed adaptive RPG. It didn’t take them much longer to double the initial goal and reach the $100,000 mark allowing, developers to reveal one of the most significant campaign updates thus far.

This means that at the time of launch, gamers will be able to enjoy a whole new virtual world in the game inspired by another ambitious and unique RPG – Seven: The Days Long Gone.

Why Seven: The Days Long Gone? Well, being an open-world, isometric stealth, and action role-playing game, in which you play as Teriel, a master thief sent on a mission that will shake the foundations of the Vetrall Empire, this game is the perfect fit for Gamedec, where you play as a detective solving crimes in virtual worlds. Thanks to unlocking the $100,00 Kickstarter goal, gamers will get the chance to crack a case related to Seven’s world and be able to see some locations from it as a part of the Gamedec virtualia! Those who are already familiar with Fool’s Theory and IMGN.PRO’s game will surely enjoy revisiting some of the memorable locations once more, while also having the unique feeling of Gamedec gameplay in the world of Seven: The Days Long Gone!

The next Kickstarter campaign milestone is set at a $115,000 and once reached, will guarantee adding French and Spanish localization to the game. However, gamers can already vote for the new virtual world that will be added to the game once the $140,000 mark is reached. Whether Gamedec will be then enriched with a classic isometric RPG vibe of a post-apocalyptic reality or a perfect detective setting of  H.P Lovecraft's Cthulu lore, is totally up to gamers. And there’s more still to come, so make sure to visit the campaign website frequently not to miss any upcoming updates.

Key Features:

  • You Are The Sum Of your Choices: You will hunt down the criminals of virtual worlds. Rich, spoiled business people, mothers who want a better life for their children, or corporations with plans to rewrite humanity. Are they acting alone, or are they mere puppets? What does a "happy ending" mean to you or to them? Each decision you make shapes the game world and your character’s personality. Some decisions will feel right, and others will be unexpected. The game continually adapts to your choices and never judges – only you can judge yourself.
  • Explore The Cyberpunk of The XXII Century: Welcome to Warsaw City in the XXII century, where "real" is a relative term and "life" and "death" have many meanings. Virtual worlds give rise to real problems: lust, sloth, envy, and pride. That’s why the residents of these virtual game-worlds need specialists – Gamedecs who discover and exploit cheats hidden in the realities of their clients. Whether it’s the Wild West or the jungle of a prehistoric entertainment park, these and many other worlds confront our human nature. Which, despite many changes, has remained all too familiar…
  • Experience The Essence Of Role-Playing: Gamedec is a pure RPG experience equipped with mechanics such as a codex, aspects, and deduction. The game emulates the nature of a tabletop RPG by focusing on choice-dependent character building. Gamedec, like classic tabletop RPGs, gives you the freedom to approach situations from multiple angles rather than forcing a single solution. Remember: the choice is yours.

Gamedec is currently under development for PC (Steam), planned to be released in 2020.
