'Surviving the Aftermath' Leaving Early Access, Gets Release Date With End-Game Content Update - Trailer

by Rainier on Oct. 27, 2021 @ 11:01 a.m. PDT

Surviving the Aftermath is the next installment in the post-apocalyptic survival colony builder series.

In Surviving the Aftermath, players will build and manage a colony of survivors in the shadow of a world-ending event. Resources are scarce following the apocalypse, and survival requires mastery of complex systems to optimize production and colony management to ensure nothing is wasted. Players will construct buildings, manage colonists, adapt to natural disasters and more in an effort to restore civilization.

Surviving the Aftermath is more than a colony builder and enables players to go beyond the shelter to explore a dangerous world filled with unique biomes, hazards, bandits, and more. Recruit and send out teams of Specialists to gather resources and intelligence about the world around the colony. Players can see what their teams have discovered by utilizing a vast overworld map that adds layers of strategic gameplay not typically included in a colony builder.

Future updates to Surviving the Aftermath include diplomacy and combat options between colonies, expanded tech trees, endgame content and much more.

Currently available as Early Access through the Epic Games Store, Xbox Game Preview, and Steam Early Access, Surviving the Aftermath is coming to Nintendo Switch, PS4, Xbox One and PC on November 16, 2021 for $29.99 USD / £26.99 GBP / €29.99 EUR.

The game will be forward compatible with PS5 and Xbox Series X|S, allowing players who purchase Surviving the Aftermath for last-gen consoles to experience the game on their new devices.

Paradox also announced the Outback Radio Pack has been added to the Early Access Founder’s Edition; anyone who already owns the Founder’s Edition will get the radio pack as a free content update at launch. Steam users who want to participate in Early Access before launch can purchase Surviving the Aftermath at a 25% discount until November 1.

Surviving the Aftermath leaves Early Access alongside the launch of the Endgame update, adding a rich questline and late-game colony features. Players will uncover the secrets behind the apocalypse and prepare their colony to survive another doomsday event.

“After 20 major content updates focused on expanding gameplay mechanics and addressing player feedback, Surviving the Aftermath has evolved greatly from the version of the game that launched into Early Access two years ago,” said Lasse Liljedahl, Game Director for Surviving the Aftermath. “I don’t think I’ve ever worked on a game where the community was as integral to development as it has been for Aftermath. Truly, every decision, change, and addition we made stemmed from our community feedback - if we could put them all in the credits we would! They had just as much a part in development as we have, ” Lasse continued.

Key Features:

  • No Place Like Home - Build and manage a colony of survivors after a world-ending event. Construct more than 61 unique buildings to handle everything from resource collection and farming to exploration and security.
  • Surviving Earth - Explore a vast procedurally generated world featuring six different biomes filled with resources, wildlife, rival societies and more. Each environment has different conditions that affect your colony’s survival. Stay vigilant: Natural disasters, dangerous animals, and bandits will put your survivors to the test.
  • Survival is my Specialty - Recruit over 80 unique Specialists, each with their own skills and motivations, to manage your colony’s resources and production. Send them beyond the Gate on scientific missions, scavenger runs, and to fight bandits.
  • Expect the Unexpected - Life in the aftermath requires you to make moral choices. You may not be able to control everything in your colony, but how you respond to situations and emergent events will shape the character of your new civilization.
  • Reputation Management - Every decision can have dire consequences on your colony’s survival. Your reputation with other societies will affect your ability to trade and can even affect your relationship with their leaders. Colonists have a mind of their own and will react to your choices.
  • Defend the Gate - Fortify your gates and protect your colony from rampaging animals and deadly bandits. Enemies who breach the gate will pour into your colony, wreaking havoc on everything in their wake. Take command of your specialists and drive the invaders back.
  • Mods: Surviving the Aftermath players can bring their own visions to life using Paradox Mods.

Surviving the Aftermath is coming to Nintendo Switch, PS4, Xbox One and PC (Epic Games Store, Steam) on November 16, 2021 for $29.99 USD / £26.99 GBP / €29.99 EUR.
