'Assassin's Creed Chronicles: China' (ALL) Celebrates Lunar New Year, Free On Ubisoft Store

by Rainier on Feb. 9, 2021 @ 4:23 p.m. PST

Assassin's Creed Chronicles trilogy brings the thrill of being a Master Assassin to 2.5D and which will take players to China, India and Russia and follow the stories of three famous Assassins.

Players will journey to three distinct civilizations and time periods throughout history including the Ming dynasty at the start of its downfall, the Sikh Empire as it prepares for war in India and the aftermath of the Red October revolution. Each chronicle stands on its own with a unique setting, art style, story and Assassin, but is tied together narratively.

Players will embody legendary Assassins, including Shao Jun from the animated short Assassin’s Creed Embers, and Arbaaz Mir and Nikolaï Orelov from the Assassin’s Creed graphic novels. Slay from the shadows, master the art of parkour and take the leap of faith in a collection of stunning, living paintings.

Each chronicle has its own artistic signature, from the beautiful brush paintings of China to the vibrant colors of India and the distinctive propaganda art style of Russia.

Celebrate Lunar New Year by going stealthy in the Ming dynasty with Assassin’s Creed Chronicles: China, which you can download for free on PC via the Ubisoft Store beginning February 9. Focusing on Shao Jun, a Chinese Assassin trained by Ezio Auditore, this 2.5D stealth-action adventure takes players on a quest through a stylized vision of 16th-century China inspired by traditional Chinese ink paintings – but if you want it for free, move fast, because the offer is only good through February 15.

Taking a different approach than other Assassin’s Creed games, Assassin’s Creed Chronicles: China puts an emphasis on trickery and avoiding detection, as Shao Jun is able to slip into the background to hide in shadows, distract guards with firecrackers, and eliminate enemies with a Hidden Blade in her shoe. Depending on the approach they use and how well they execute it, players are ranked after each encounter; slip through a section of a level without disturbing a single guard, for example, and you’ll earn a gold “Shadow” ranking, while expertly slashing through your enemies in open combat can net you gold as a “Brawler.” And while Assassin’s Creed Chronicles: China is a self-contained adventure, it’s also the first chapter in a trilogy that continues in the 19th and 20th centuries with Assassin’s Creed Chronicles: India and Assassin’s Creed Chronicles: Russia, respectively.

You can start Shao Jun’s adventure for free on PC by visiting the Ubisoft Store from February 9 and February 15. While you’re there, why not check out the Lunar New Year sale , which runs until February 21 and offers big discounts on Assassin’s Creed Valhalla, Watch Dogs: Legion, and plenty of other Ubisoft games?
