Eremite Games and Hooded Horse announced that Against the Storm will leave early access (Epic Games Store, Steam and GOG) on December 8, 2023.

Against the Storm has seen some significant developments during its early access run, with content updates every two weeks bringing a host of major and minor changes. Two new species were added to the game, including the popular Fox people, and new mechanics in the form of Ancient Seals transformed the endgame. There were also significant reworks to the strategy layer and Blightstorms, not to mention loads of new glade events, buildings, and more.

This update cadence will continue until the full release, with the official 1.0 update including a new mode called “Queen’s Hand” that’s been specially crafted for the most experienced Viceroys. In this mode, players have only one Cycle to reforge the Adamantine Seal – the game's most challenging endeavor.

Players will start from scratch and need to be strategic about their upgrade choices - they are an expensive commodity, and in this mode, obtaining a complete set isn’t possible. There is also permadeath – if players abandon a settlement or fail to reforge the Seal in time, all unlocks are reverted, and the whole meta progression resets. Those who emerge victorious will be awarded the title of Queen's Hand and will be granted a rare audience with the Scorched Queen herself.

Hooded Horse is also excited to announce it’s extending its new partnership with Xbox to bring Against the Storm to the Microsoft store and PC Game Pass to coincide with the 1.0 release.

Against the Storm is available as Early Access title via the Epic Games Store, Steam and GOG for $29.99 / £24.99 / €29.99 / ¥3,980.

The world is filled with ruins of a long lost civilization that vanished in unknown circumstances. Who were they?
