'Neverwinter' Celebrates 10th Anniversary With Week-long In-game Event

by Rainier on June 15, 2023 @ 4:40 p.m. PDT

In Neverwinter, players choose to become one of five classic D&D classes and team up with friends or NPCs to form five-person co-op groups. Players also create their own storylines and quests utilizing a user-friendly content generation system.

Players explore the vast city of Neverwinter and its surrounding countryside, learning the vivid history of the iconic city and battling its many enemies. In Neverwinter, players can create their own quests and campaigns with the Foundry, a powerful content creation tool that allows players to seamlessly integrate their adventures in to the live game world.

They might not be the most pleasant-looking creatures, but they are definitely a fierce bunch of savage and bloodthirsty warriors. By plaguing the civilized races, Orcs have always been a major threat to humans, elves and dwarfs. Laying claim to the area in the northern half of the old Tower District, Orcs have made the Cloak Tower in Neverwinter their home.

Even the most courageous heroes will have to fight their way through the ruins of this district to put an end to the Orc domination and help restore Neverwinter to her former glory.

Gearbox Publishing and Cryptic Studios are excited to announce that Neverwinter is celebrating its 10th anniversary.

In celebration of 10 years of exploring and expanding the iconic Forgotten Realms, adventurers can take part in a special version of Neverwinter’s yearly anniversary event, the Protector’s Jubilee. Starting today at 7:30am Pacific Time and ending on June 22 at 7:30am Pacific Time, adventurers can fight alongside Elminster, voiced by Forgotten Realms creator and the creator of the character, Ed Greenwood. In the event, players will take on a variety of missions and earn new exciting rewards, including an Elminster Simulacrum companion.

“These last ten years have been an incredible adventure for Neverwinter, and it feels like we’re only just getting started,” said Brett Norton, the game’s executive producer. “Across the last decade, we’ve had the honor and privilege of exploring all the iconic locations, classes, encounters and characters – both heroes and villains alike -- that really have defined the Dungeons & Dragons franchise. Looking forward, we are excited to dive further into the new content that’s been introduced in Dungeons & Dragons, and we want to thank our wonderful community of players for exploring Neverwinter over all these years!”
