'Cards Of Ethernity' Is A Collectible Card Game In Open Beta On Epic Games Store - Trailer

by Rainier on June 28, 2023 @ 9:47 a.m. PDT

Cards Of Ethernity is a collectible card game set in a grueling and dark-fantasy realm known as Aether.

Cards Of Ethernity is a hero-focused card game (Hearthstone) that allows you to build a deck and powerful strategies around one of its current ten adventurers. Currently, in open beta, Cards of Ethernity features over 150 cards to collect and combine in decks to create powerful combos with board-shattering effects.

Set in the dark-fantasy realm of Aether, Cards Of Ethernity features a range of different characters and factions to play with, including dragons, trolls, fairies, beasts, demons, and elementals. Matches favor a more slow approach (Magic: The Gathering, Eternal Card Game) where the outwitting of a player's strategy always overcomes the luck of the card draw.

Cards Of Ethernity is a blockchain game and does feature an in-game token that can be earned by playing the game. The decision to embed the game in the blockchain market came down to providing players with a sense of ownership over their in-game collectibles.

Studio director, Jens Peeters says, "Blockchain technology is the key to unlocking a new era of gaming experiences, bridging the gap between virtual and real-world economies while empowering players with true ownership and control over their digital assets. By integrating blockchain into our transmedia universe, we create a seamless, immersive, and interactive experience that transcends traditional gaming boundaries and paves the way for the future of interactive entertainment."

Players need no previous experience with blockchain technology to play Cards Of Ethernity. Neither do they need to create a blockchain wallet. All cards and collectibles in-game can be earned through playing or purchased through direct money payments, like any other free-to-play title. For those interested in the blockchain space, Cards Of Ethernity does feature a monthly $3,000 ranked prize pool.

Cards Of Ethernity is the first title in the wider Aether Universe’ that’s planned by Aether Games. The creatures and adventures of Aether will carry over into Gates of Ethernity, a competitive auto-battler planned for 2024.

Cards Of Ethernity is currently available in open beta via Epic Game Store, with the full game also coming to Steam (blockchain removed) in Q4 2023.
