Freedom Planet 2 is a fast-paced platformer where you become a full-time cartoon heroine and use abilities and items suited to your play style to explore the world of Avalice and defend its animal citizens!

Join the heroes of Avalice as they face their greatest challenge yet! An ancient terror has emerged from the depths of the ocean. Merga, a water dragon from Avalice's oldest and deadliest war, has been freed from her crystal prison as a consequence of the Kingdom Stone's destruction. War is imminent once again, but this time, the heroes are split between sides. As friendships are tested, will the girls stand united when Bakunawa rises?

Return to the vibrant world of Avalice to battle an ancient threat in the long-awaited sequel to the surprise indie action-platformer hit, Freedom Planet. In the years since the events of the original game, our three heroines have refined their signature abilities, making them more formidable than ever before. Take advantage of Lilac’s speed with her Dragon Boost, reach new heights with Carol’s Jump Disc or motorcycle, or take a more measured approach with Milla’s shield. And all-new playable character Neera won’t be left out in the cold, as she can use her powerful Frost Arts to punish foes. Like its predecessor, this high-speed platforming adventure delivers exhilarating momentum-based action, but advances the formula with new gameplay systems and enhancements.

With 24 expertly designed stages, an ambitiously expanded Adventure mode, retro-but-refined 2D visuals, and the addition of the highly requested Boss Rush mode, Freedom Planet 2 is the indie darling grown up to become a true platforming power.

A newly released video showcases the four playable heroines racing across levels with the franchise’s signature high-speed pixel platforming to save Avalice from the ancient water dragon Merga, and her plans to destroy the moon!

The video also showcases the new, fan-requested ‘Boss Rush’ mode, which will be included in all console versions of Freedom Planet 2 and added to the PC version simultaneously upon release.

These new challenges will be accessible from the in-game Battlesphere, bringing the total number of challenges and modes available up to 20. ‘Boss Rush’ will feature two divisions with 17 deadly bosses each to challenge Lilac, Carol, Milla, or Neera in a marathon of speed and skill. Players able to best both boss divisions will unlock access to a special in-game VIP room with Easter eggs for dedicated Freedom Planet fans.

Key Features:

  • Four playable characters available from the start, each with her own unique fighting style: Lilac the Dragon (Speed Type), Carol the Wildcat (Brawler Type), Milla the Hound (Explorer Type), and Neera the Frost Knight (Power Type).
  • Explore the world of Avalice in Adventure mode. Travel through a sprawling world map filled with treasures, landmarks, and over 100 unique animal NPCs to interact with and catalog.
  • Dive straight into the action with Classic Mode. Accessible after completing Adventure mode once, this streamlined navigation screen gives you quick access to stages and other important features without the need for travelling.
  • Test your fighting skills in the Battlesphere arena. Once reached, the Battlesphere hosts a variety of challenges featuring enemies and bosses you've previously encountered, along with brand new surprises!
  • Parry enemy attacks with the new Guard button. If timing's not your thing, an Auto Guard option in the Assist settings makes your character automatically guard against attacks if possible.
  • A new Revival system gives you a chance to clinch victory during very close battles. Use it wisely - it costs a stock and two more hits will knock you out again!
  • Power up your heroine with customizable potions. Collect and mix a rainbow of ingredients that boost her vitality in different ways, such as increasing her stock count, shield durability, attack power, speed, and more.
  • Change the rules with a multitude of equippable items. Amulets and Charms provide helpful effects, while Brave Stones make combat harder in exchange for bonus crystals.

Freedom Planet 2 currently available for digital pre-order on the eShop for Nintendo Switch for 10% off the MSRP of $24.99. The PlayStation release of the game will be sold in a bundle with both PS4 and PS5 versions of the game included, while the Xbox release will feature Smart Delivery, allowing players on both sets of platforms to play the optimal version on either console.

Currently available for PC (Steam), Freedom Planet 2 is coming to Nintendo Switch, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and  Xbox Series X|S on April 4, 2024.
