Experience a master-class in psychological survival horror on the latest hardware with chilling visuals and visceral sounds.

Having received a letter from his deceased wife, James heads to where they shared so many memories, in the hope of seeing her one more time: SILENT HILL.

There, by the lake, he finds a woman eerily similar to her...

"My name...is Maria," the woman smiles. Her face, her voice... She's just like her.

A remake of the 2001 horror classic, Silent Hill 2 is coming to PS5 and PC, developed by Bloober Team, composer Akira Yamaoka and artist Masahiro Ito, the unsettling town shrouded in the brooding fog will be remade with enhanced visuals, sounds and gameplay.

Take a look at new gameplay footage in this trailer, including what to expect from the improved and modernized combat.

Silent Hill: The Short Message is a new, short-form Silent Hill title, featuring a young, contemporary protagonist. In 2022, Konami announced a revival for the Silent Hill series, along with several new titles in development, and this marks the first of that new wave of games to be released.

Konami are releasing the whole game for free, so if you’ve never played a Silent Hill game before then take this chance to get a taste of what Silent Hill is all about.

This game started as something like an experimental project – an opportunity for us to try out different things, see what worked and what didn’t, and grow and polish our horror game expertise. We also had a lot of people who were relatively new in their career but still loved Silent Hill, and who really wanted to be involved in making a horror game, so we used this as a way for our team to build hands-on experience, too.

Fear Will Take You

Following messages from her friend Maya, Anita finds herself at a crumbling apartment block, infamous for rumors of suicides. Drawn inside, Anita soon finds her sense of reality shattered as she encounters bizarre, otherworldly spaces, haunted by a twisted monster. Maya's message was clear — ""can't leave til you find it"" — but what is it that Anita is really looking for?

An all-new, modern Silent Hill experience, powered by the latest in game technology, now available free to play exclusively on PS 5.

With the possibilities of the Unreal Engine 5, the developer are bringing the foggy, sinister town to life in ways that were impossible up to this point. The game will delight players visually, auditorily, and sensorily.

Some of the Unreal Engine 5 features that really shine are Lumen and Nanite. With them we’re raising the graphics to new, highly-detailed and realistic levels, while turning the game’s signature nerve-racking atmosphere to eleven. Lumen is a fully dynamic global illumination solution that immediately reacts to scene and light changes. It means that the light interacts with the environment realistically, just like in the real world. The whole game environment is lit more naturally this way. The Nanite technology, on the other hand, is an amazing tool for level designers. With it, they can create incredibly detailed worlds and more realistic environments that look and feel almost lifelike.

It’s not only graphics, though. A lot of Silent Hill’s disturbing atmosphere comes from music and sound design. Thanks to the game’s 3D audio capabilities, players will be able to determine the exact direction where the sound is coming from. The WWise sound engine creates a realistic and believable soundscape that helps players feel like they are truly inside the game.

Silent Hill 2 Remake is in development for PS5 and PC.
