'Cities: Skylines II' Beach Properties Asset Pack & Mod Support Coming Next Week - Trailer

by Rainier on March 18, 2024 @ 9:03 a.m. PDT

Cities: Skylines II is a modern take on city simulation genre in which players can build any city they can imagine, from a small village to a bustling metropolis.

In Cities: Skylines II, players build detailed cities at an epic scale. Intricate economic systems present players with choices that have ripple effects across the city. Dynamic maps set in various biomes present both challenges and opportunities for city builders. High-fidelity visuals showcase the beauty of cities like never before, from a humble city block to an iconic city skyline. For the first time ever, each citizen has their own individual life, including occupation, household, relationships and more, making cities feel alive. Players can now follow how their choices affect citizens' lives, adding weight and immediate impact to every strategic decision.

Players start by picking a map, with each environment presenting its own challenges, climate, and opportunities. From there, players manage a series of interconnected simulation systems as they build and grow their city. Build roads, lay out districts, set up infrastructure, and manage citizens' needs as the population grows from a small town to a sweeping metropolis.

Paradox Interactive and Colossal Order announced that Cities: Skylines II will release its first post-launch asset pack, Beach Properties, on March 25, 2024 at $9.99/£8.49/€9.99, or as part of the Cities: Skylines II Waterfronts Expansion Pass or Ultimate Edition.

In addition, the pack will launch alongside the first stage of Cities: Skylines II’s  in-game modding options and tools, allowing players and creators to build, share, and play with mods through a simple in-game interface.

Starting on March 25, players will be able access mods through the Cities: Skylines II Modding Beta. Upon release, an in-game editor will be available that allows for players to create or implement Map or Code mods. Using the Paradox Mods platform, also integrated into the Cities: Skylines II experience, creations can be played locally and shared globally. The platform also allows players to discover and curate other available mods, organize their preferred mods into one-click Playsets, and more. Asset modding tools and other options will be made available later this year.

“Modding is part of the lifeblood of Cities: Skylines, and starting our Modding Beta is going to be a transformative step for Cities: Skylines II,” said Mariina Hallikainen, CEO of Colossal Order. “The creativity and feedback from our players are what makes this community what it is. We can’t wait to see how everyone puts these tools to use, and work alongside them to make sure everyone is empowered to make the cities of their dreams.”

In addition to Beach Properties, a new in-game Radio, the Deluxe Relax Station will be released on March 25, featuring a new host and a full hour of new music. Deluxe Relax Station will be available on PC for a suggested retail price of $4.99/£4.49/€4.99 or as part of the Cities: Skylines II Waterfronts Expansion Pass or Ultimate Edition.

Key Features:

  • Deep Simulation: Make choices that have ripple effects across the city. Intricate AI and economic systems mean players will need to strategize, problem solve and react to changes, challenges and opportunities.
  • Epic Scale, Endless Possibilities: Build a thriving metropolis without compromise. In Cities: Skylines II, players will be able to build sky-high and across the map to realize their dream city like never before.
  • Cities That Come Alive: Follow the lives of individual citizens, from love and loss to wealth and well-being. Player decisions will shape the lives of their city's citizens.
  • A Dynamic World: Pick a map to set the climate and biome of the city. These natural forces will shape the growth of players' cities as they contend with rising pollution, changeable weather and seasonal challenges.

Players will learn more about the intricate systems involved in managing their sprawling metropolis over the coming weeks via a series of deep dive videos from Colossal Order.

Cities: Skylines II is coming to PC on October 24, 2023, followed by PS5 and Xbox Series X|S in Spring 2024.
