Battlefield 2 features immense, richly detailed, destructible environments, from city streets to remote forests, in some of the most notorious hot spots around the world. Each map in Battlefield 2 adjusts in scale to support the number of players in the world, providing the ideal vehicle-to-player ratio and an optimized game play experience. Enhanced team play features allow players to enter the action on the front lines as part of a formal squad, or work behind the scenes in Commander Mode to direct the strategic assaults of their team mates. With in-game success, players increase their rank from recruit all the way to General and unlock awards, including new weapons, vehicle decals, medals, and more.

Mark Crump: CounterStrike never did it for me, but Battlefield 1942 finally got me hooked on team-based multiplayer combat. What I saw of Battlefield 2 at E3 last year impressed me; now there will be more emphasis on teamplay, medics will have a great purpose, and man, those graphics are gonna rock!

Tony "OUberLord" Mitera: With the unheard-of popularity that surrounded the Desert Combat modification for Battlefield 1942, it was almost a sure thing that Dice and EA would take the ball and run with it to create a stand-alone title of their own using the same premise. Battlefield 2: Modern Combat brings the Battlefield series up to speed with modernized vehicles, weaponry, and locations alongside a newer, more detailed engine. The pitched battles of Battlefield 1942 and Battlefield: Vietnam could often be some of the most large-scale and downright fun experiences one could have in a multiplayer game, and Battlefield 2 looks to uphold that same tradition. Just cross your fingers and hope half of your team isn't waiting for the $^*#ing planes.
