During a Nintendo press conference, Spanish website
Meristation received information from a Ubisoft spokes person that Ubisoft Canada (team behind Beyond Good & Evil) is working on a FPS for Nintendo's next-gen Revolution console, to be unveiled at E3 2006. While details are obviously limited the website claims that the unnamed title will take full advantage of the Revolution's unique controller and that it will take place in a Doom-like environment.

In a somewhat interesting turn of events Ubisoft CEO Guillemot said in an interview with
French newspaper Les Echos (question nr. 6) that its efforts to counter EA's hostile takeover might be futile in the long run. The long time CEO said the company still has a few elements in their favour, such as its strong market value, meaning shareholders would not be easily swayed. But on the other hand Guillemot also said that if the price was right, he would consider the offer as long as it benefits the shareholders and the Ubisoft employees. The interview promplty showed results as the Ubisoft shares went up $1.66 (1.36 euros).

Ubisoft announced today that it will launch the Splinter Cell Chaos Theory “Best Map” contest this summer. Everyone can create his own map thanks to the map editor provided with the game. The Jury – whose members are the creators of the Versus Mode from Ubisoft’s studio in Annecy (France)– will reward the 10 best maps created. Today Ubisoft officially opens its door in the provincial capital where it intends to invest 75 M$ CAD and create 200 jobs within five years. Ubisoft will start with 75 jobs in Quebec City this year. Today Ubisoft announced results for the fourth quarter of fiscal year 2004-2005, which showed an 8 % sales growth over last year's results. The included release schedule shows that Rainbow Six Lockdown has once again been delayed, this time to Q3 (July-September). More curious is the lack of PC specifications for Lockdown and 187 Ride or Die, something we experienced with Ghost Recon 2 right before its cancellation. Ubisoft announced today that it has entered into an agreement to acquire MC2-Microids (Microids Canada) Canadian development operations and integrate them into its Montreal studio. The closing of this agreement is subject to requirements to be met by the two parties. Terms of the agreement were not disclosed. Following this agreement, Microids Canada's fifty employees will be integrated into Ubisoft's Montreal studio operations. This agreement does not cover any of MC2-Microids intellectual property or projects currently under development.
