The fourth title in the Metal Slug series joins the Xbox Live Arcade library as Metal Slug 3 arrives this Wednesday, Jan. 2 at 9:00 a.m. GMT (2:00 a.m. PST). An update of the original arcade version, Metal Slug 3 is a run-and-gun video game updated with HD graphics and now features co-op multiplayer over Xbox Live.

Since its initial revelation at the
TGS 2004, SNK Playmore's Metal Slug 3D has not really been heard of. For its 10th anniversary, Metal Slug is going to try and make the jump to 3D with an all new adventure. You will be able to choose from 4 characters, and the game will allow you to customize your own weapons with items you find along your way.

While there has been any official announcement yet, at last week's GDC SNK revealed that, to celebrate the 10th anniversary of the franchise, it is bringing Metal Slug to the PSP. As the Metal Slug Collection title indicates this will not be an all new product but rather a compilation of Metal Slug 1 through 5, including Metal Slug X. Metal Slug Collection will be a port of the classic arcade titles and will feature 2 player coop.
