Silicon Knights, known for Eternal Darkness and Metal Gear Solid: The Twin Snakes remake, is working on a new project Siren in the Maelstrom according to
a press release issued by TeleFilm Canada touting new media projects being funded in the area. Silicon Knights' previous project was Too Human, a third-person action game where you play Baldur, a cybernetic god thrust into the midst of an ongoing battle that threatens the existence of mankind.

It's time to get creepy again as Sony Computer Entertainment Japan announced that is developing a remake of the PS2 horror game Forbidden Siren. Currently only scheduled for release in Japan on July 24th, Siren: New Translation currently has a demo available for download on PSN Japan. In western territories the game will be called Siren Blood Curse.

Variety is reporting that Ghost House Pictures has acquired the film rights to Sony's PS2 exclusive horror game Siren. Michael Gordon has been hired to write the screenplay, and he will work close together with Siren director Keiichiro Toyama. The Siren film version will focus on an American med school student searching for her missing sister in Japan. She begins her investigation in the remote mountain village of Hanuda, only to find herself trapped with an unspeakable evil that can no longer be contained.

A TV crew from America arrive to research and film an exposé on the urban myth of Hanuda, the Vanished Village, where human sacrifices are said to have taken place.
Hanuda is a dark, eerie world, frozen in the 1970s and surrounded by a red sea. An ancient curse has been set upon the town and you, as the visitors, must save the remaining inhabitants including the beautiful Miyako. In order to survive you must defend yourself from the vicious Shibito, or living dead, and other terrifying monsters.
