Rogue Galaxy (PS2)

Developed by Level-5, Inc., Rogue Galaxy is an epic space pirate adventure set across vast worlds with intricate backdrops, unique characters, and diverse gameplay. The acclaimed development team, popular for their successful Dark Cloud series, has brought to life a true-action RPG showcasing stunning environments, an immersive storyline with more than 100 hours of gameplay, and a proprietary combat system that provides players total control during battle.

Already having celebrated a successful launch in Japan, the North American version of Rogue Galaxy was enhanced significantly, with many new features included exclusively for the territory. Additions for the North American launch include new weapon creation functionality, a fully revised combat system, and an entirely new world to explore.

"Rogue Galaxy stays true to Level-5's strengths by combining an expansive story and unique gameplay elements with a distinct visual style, full of colorful characters and extraordinary worlds," said Susan Nourai, director, online and product marketing, Sony Computer Entertainment America. "With the additions offered in the North American release, including new environments, updated battle system, and new Insectron mode, Rogue Galaxy is truly a must-own for PlayStation 2 loyalists and RPG fans seeking the ultimate adventure."

In Rogue Galaxy, players follow the story of Jaster Rogue, a young man bound to a simple existence on the desert planet Rosa. By chance, he is recruited by the space pirate Dorgengoa to embark on a treasure hunt throughout the galaxy. Jaster and the crew encounter numerous adventures and battles as they seek out the legendary planet that holds this special treasure: the key to eternal life.

Set in an expansive galaxy with a variety of unique worlds to explore, Rogue Galaxy provides access to eight different characters that join the crew throughout the journey. Players control up to three characters at a time and are able to engage in unique, real-time combat that includes new special chain attacks and an integrated A.I. battle suggestion system. Additionally, Rogue Galaxy provides access to multiple mini-games, including a strategic pet insect battle called Insectron, and players can generate more than 500 custom weapons and items through a new synthesis gameplay function. The game boasts zero load times to let players explore the highly detailed worlds of Rogue Galaxy with seamless transitions.

The ESRB rates Rogue Galaxy "T" for "Teen" (Descriptors: Blood, Crude Humor, Mild Language, Mild Suggestive Themes, Use of Alcohol/Tobacco, Violence).
