3. Setting Up VEGA$: Make it Big Demo

PRE GAME - CONFIGURATION OPTIONS & SETTINGS

The options accessed from the configuration panel BEFORE the main game loads are different to the in game options and can be used to gain a speed or
performance increase.

These options cannot be changed from within the game.

TRAINING LEVEL WELCOME TO THE STRIP

In "Welcome to the Strip" the Configuration Settings are locked (nothing can be
changed). To change your configuration settings you will need to drop out to
the Main Menu or go to another level.

4. Graphics Card Compatibility

The following graphics cards/chipsets are NOT supported:

  • S3 Savage 4
  • S3 Pro Savage DDR (on-board)
  • Voodoo 5
  • SIS 315 Chipset (including the Jaton 3DForce S-128 Quad)
  • ATI Xpert 2000 Pro.

Some of the ATI drivers require DX 9.0b to be installed or the game will not run.

5. Performance Issue

If you are having performance slowdowns experiment with the graphics options found from the in game menu.

There are five presets and a custom option to tweak the detail options yourself.

If you get poor framerates during certain camera views then you will need to drop your texture detail and maybe your in game resolution. These can be
found in the configuration panel in the launcher.

640x480x16 resolution will give you the best performance.

You might find that your AGP aperture is either not enabled or set to a value that is either too low or too high.

The AGP aperture can be enabled in your BIOS. Please refer to your motherboard manual with information on how to modify your AGP aperture settings.

For Vega$ : Make it Big we recommend the follow values

  • 128 Mb Main Memory - Set AGP aperture to 16Mb
  • 256 Mb Main Memory - Set AGP aperture to 32Mb
  • 512 Mb+ Main Memory - Set AGP aperture to 64Mb+

If you cannot enable shadows in your game you will probably have to run in a 32bit resolution (i.e. 800x600x32).

This can be selected from the configuration panel from the game launcher.

If you are using Windows 2000, please ensure you have at least Service Pack 1 installed.

This can be downloaded from:

http://www.microsoft.com/windows2000/downloads/servicepacks/default.asp

NOTE: This link may change, so if it does not work, just search www.microsoft.com for Windows 2000 Service Pack download.

If you have not got Service Pack 1 or later installed you may experience performance problems.

6. Game Notes & Hints

CONFIGUARTION SETTINGS WELCOME TO THE STRIP

In "Welcome to the Strip" the Configuration Settings are locked (nothing can be changed). To change your configuration settings you will need to drop out to
the Main Menu or go to another level.

SCENARIOS

Only two levels are available in the VEGAS$: Make it Big Demo. These are Welcome to the Strip (the training level) and King of the Hill (the second
level). Another Eight levels plus a full Sandbox mode with 12 maps are available in the full game.

SALES OBJECTIVES

If you sell a building that has contributed sales to a sales total objective then the sales from that building will be removed from your current total. Do not sell buildings (if possible) until you have achieved the objective!

LOAD AND SAVE

Load and save are only available in the full game.

Casinos Attract People

A functioning casino on your Lot is a very useful building and will draw people to your Lot generally (not just gamblers). Some scenarios can be won without a
casino but it can be hard.

Use the Bet Ranges!

To optimise your Casino performance ensure you have a range of attractions AND a range of bet ranges!

STAFF

If your staff appear to stop working then to get them going again it might be necessary to fire them and rehire new ones

MAKE IT BIG MAKE IT BEAUTIFUL!

Make sure you have enough scenic items (statues, trees etc.) both on your Lot and in your casino! A lot in the short term can function without these but long
term your Lot & Casino will suffer.

Make sure you have enough cleaners and bins (but remember that bins are smelly!) Both inside and outside your casino fussier guests in particular hate rubbish!

Many people do not like Noise & Smell. Smell especially can upset people. Offset these influences by a) routing people away from these areas and b) building scenic items to counterbalance the negative effect of these. Inside a Casino use the raise/lower floors option to contain smell & noise.
