by Thomas on March 28, 2003 @ 5:59 a.m. PST

CDV today announced that it has changed the name for its eagerly-awaited real-time strategy game, the title formerly known as Imperium Galactica 3. The game will be published under the new title, Galaxy Andromeda. Read more for details and a batch of fresh screens ...

"While Galaxy Andromeda was originally conceived as the third game in the Imperium Galactica series, it has developed now to the point where we are confident of releasing it as a fully-fledged game in its own right," says Terry Malham, president, CDV Software Entertainment UK. "We have high hopes for this game and expect that, with its new title, it will go on to establish a whole new franchise of its own."

Developed by Hungarian team Mithis Games, Galaxy Andromeda offers an unparalleled depth of science-fiction based gameplay, set in an all-new 3D environment. The game incorporates 30 narrative missions, played out against a background of six parallel storylines. In addition to these, there are 25 randomly-generated missions, making each game unique.

To complement the single-player game, up to 16 players will be able to take part in spectacular space battles on either a local area network or via the Internet.

Galaxy Andromeda will be published on Windows PC in the final quarter of 2003. Further information and screen shots are available from the all-new Galaxy Andromeda website, www.galaxyandromeda.de
