Slash ’Em Up In 'Evil Dead: A Fistful of Boomstick' On PS2 And Xbox

by Thomas on May 6, 2003 @ 4:57 a.m. PDT

Open your diary and put a big red circle around Friday 13th June. That should be enough to remind you not only to avoid walking under ladders or approaching black cats, but also that Ash is back. And he's back in the biggest bloodiest hack and slash gore-fest imaginable. Ash is the chainsaw-armed hero of Evil Dead: A Fistful of Boomstick: a brand new action adventure title due for release by THQ Inc. on Friday June 13th for both PS2 and Xbox.

Developed with the full support of the Evil Dead movie creators Sam Raimi, Robert Tapert and Bruce Campbell – who also features in the game as the voice of Ash - Evil Dead: A Fistful of Boomstick allows you to play our hero and to save the civilians of Dearborn, Michigan from zombies – or deadites – over six levels and throughout various eras, including the 1600s, the Civil War and present day. There are also five mini arcade games to unlock on each level and three bosses to battle.

So how do you save the Dearborns from the deadites? Well, that's where the fun starts. You get to shoot them, slice them, batter them and beat them with the help your trusty boomstick (shotgun) that has a 360° target range. Oh and your mean-looking chainsaw arm, obviously. And a shovel. And a few rocket launchers, flamethrowers, gatling guns, a blood-sucking device and magic. So, as you can imagine, that leaves a lot of blood on the pavement and not a lot of zombie left to scare the Dearborns.

Fancy a change from playing Ash? Then simply collect 'mana' to cast a spell on an unsuspecting zombie and become a deadite in disguise. It's kill, kill, kill all the way!

Developed by VIS and published by THQ, Evil Dead: A Fistful of Boomstick will be released for PlayStation 2 and Xbox on June 13th 2003. And to celebrate the link between the game and the film, each customer will also receive a copy of Evil Dead 2 – the movie - on DVD with the game for just £29.99.
