PlayStation Experience 2003

by Thomas on June 5, 2003 @ 8:27 a.m. PDT

After last year's sell-out PlayStation consumer show, The PlayStation Experience, Sony Computer Entertainment UK (SCE UK) is pleased to announce it will be hosting the successful event again for 2003. Running last year from Thursday 28th August to Sunday 31st August at London's Earl's Court. The PlayStation Experience offered gamers, for the very first time, a chance to sample games anything up to six months in advance of their launch, plus a comprehensive timetable of live entertainment including chart topping music, skate and BMX, dance and celebrity appearances..

Last year's event, in addition to Sony and its second party partners Disney, Namco and Square Soft, was attended by Acclaim, Activision, Atari/Infogrames, Capcom, Codemasters, Eidos, Electronic Arts, Konami, Midway, Rage and THQ. Games seen by consumers for the very first time at the 2002 PlayStation Experience included Tekken 4, The Getaway, Tony Hawks 4, The Lord of The Rings, and Lara Croft: Tomb Raider, Angel of Darkness.

For 2003, the PlayStation Experience will be double the size of last year's event, with a longer duration, more third party involvement and even better value for consumers.

Taking place as part or London Games Week, and concurrent with ECTS 2003, The PlayStation Experience will take place at Earl's Court from Thursday August 28th to Sunday August 31st. Tickets will go on sale from June priced £5 in advance (£8 on the door). Editor's note: All tickets last year were advance sale only and priced at £8.

Said UK Managing Director, Ray Maguire, "The PlayStation Experience was a resounding success in 2002. In excess of 20 thousand people attended the event over the three days, and we have had a huge amount of interest from consumers who want to see this event become a regular occurrence. To this end, we are pleased to announce that we will be running the event for the second time this year. With double the floorspace, more content and live entertainment, four days duration and a much reduced entry price this will be an even bolder statement of the PlayStation experience.'

For SCEE, David Reeves, Executive Vice President Sales and Marketing Europe, said "the success of PlayStation Experience will be reflected not only by the increased investment in the size and content of the UK's show, but also the format will be rolled out to other key European territories this summer onwards. The events will offer a truly memorable experience and bring a wide range of our consumers closer to all the things that make the market leading console a compelling lifestyle choice."
