BAM! Entertainment today announced that it will publish, under license from Japan-based Taito Corporation, Bujingai: The Forsaken City for the PlayStation 2. The North American release date is currently set for this May. Featuring design work from the creators of the Japanese animations "Cowboy Bebop" and "Trigun" and developed for Taito by Red Entertainment, Bujingai has received rave reviews since its release in the Asian market this past holiday. "We feel that BAM! is the ideal publisher to bring Bujingai to the U.S. market," said Hironori Ishii, General Manager of Overseas Releases. "BAM!'s knowledge of the North American market made them the right choice to get this great game in front of an even greater audience of PlayStation 2 fans. We are delighted that BAM! shares our enthusiasm for bringing this unique martial arts experience to gamers across North America."

"We are very pleased and excited to have the opportunity to be working with Taito in bringing their product to North America," said Ray Musci, Chief Executive Officer of BAM! Entertainment. "It is obvious that the team at Red Entertainment has put its heart and soul into creating one of the most outstanding and unique martial arts games available on PlayStation 2. Bujingai has received strong editorial acclaim since its launch in Japan and we believe that this product will have equal appeal and reception in the U.S. market."

Bujingai: The Forsaken City is a third person action-adventure title that brings martial arts fantasy to life. Inspired by classic Hong Kong cinema, the player takes on the role of a spell-casting, gravity-defying warrior named Lau. Set in post-apocalyptic Asia, Lau must battle his way through an army of fiends to rescue a fellow warrior who has been possessed by a demon. Lau is able to fight multiple enemies while running, gliding, floating, and running on walls. To make the action even more authentic, all of the characters in Bujingai: The Forsaken City have fluid motion capture movements that give them just as much personality as Lau.

Bujingai: The Forsaken City has already received rave reviews from the gaming press. Gamespot.com writes "Taito, Red Entertainment, and some heavyweight anime producers are teaming up to create Bujingai." IGN.com says of Bujingai, "With its combo-heavy gameplay and wire-work-inspired stunts, Bujingai is Red's homage to Hong Kong action flicks." 1Up.com notes, "The smooth and pretty graphics rely on lots of motion-capture to get the animation right, resulting in a game that certainly dazzles when it comes to the visuals.
