Hope Fades Where Terror Rules…

In 1888, terror ruled the fog-covered streets of east London. Murders were committed of such a vicious nature, that the people feared for their lives. But then suddenly it stopped…

Thirteen years later, in the weary, despairing corners of New York City, the horror is relived in the hearts and minds of the citizens. Certain “ladies of the night” are being murdered in a particularly brutal, yet efficient manner. The murderer, on each occasion disappears into the night without a trace.

Who is this killer that seems to vanish in the mists of darkness? James Palmer, a young newspaperman, thinks he knows. His daily articles indicate he is arriving closer to the truth and thus he becomes the unwitting pen pal of the murderer, who signs his name Jack the Ripper. Now Palmer is determined to discover the true identity of the man dubbed Jack. But the murderer’s interest in young James grows, and to prove it he has vowed to make his next victim personal….

Walkthrough

The gameplay opens with a newspaper article about the most recent murder. Click to get a close-up on the circled and underlined names: Blue Velvet and Miss Rossella.

Click on the attached note from your editor detailing your assignment!

Go forward and listen to the men in the kiosk. Turn right and approach the door on the top of the small staircase. Click to gain entry into the Blue Velvet. Once inside, turn right and proceed down the hallway. Turn left and approach the hostess of this establishment.

After your conversation, turn left and go through the doorway. There is a man standing at the bar with his back to you. Turn right and go up the stairs. Miss Gilda Rossella is leaning on the railing at the top of the stairs. Speak with her and when the conversation topics appear on the upper left of the gameplay screen, click on each subject to engage in conversation about that topic.

When you are finished, turn around and go back down the stairs. The fellow at the bar has now left. Approach the bar and look at the item left on the bar. It is a card of the distillery where the crime took place. Take the card.

Leave the Blue Velvet and go up the alleyway until you receive a Map Icon, or while still in the Blue Velvet, right-mouse click to access the Inventory and Map Menu. Click on the inventory item of the distillery card with the note on top. Drag and drop this item onto the empty pin on the map. You now have access to the Crime Scene location. Click on the pin to go to this location.

Turn right when you first arrive and on the ground is a police drawing of the victim, being removed by the authorities.

Click on the opening of the stairs straight in front of you and at the top, turn to see another drawing on the platform on the other side of the opening. Interesting perspective…

Look at the raven to have a strange insight flash of the murder. The raven then flies away.

Go back down the stairs and walk towards the tunnel opposite to where you arrived from. Jason, the hobo, appears and speaks to you. Speak to him on the conversation topics.

Jason leaves you with some valuable advice… Enjoy the screenshots from the game.
