'The Witcher' - Screens

by Rainier on May 29, 2004 @ 11:21 a.m. PDT

The Witcher is set in a rich fantasy world where you can't see the line between good and evil. Geralt, the game's hero, is The Witcher - master swordsman and a professional monster-slayer.

An additional advantage of the game is its location in the world created by fantasy writer Andrzej Sapkowski. However, the construction of the storyline does not require any knowledge of Andrzej Sapkowski’s novels. The game takes place in a “ready-made” fantasy reality, therefore both the world and the characters are a part of a greater entirety. They are composite and authentic, which allows the player to easily identify with the events of the game.

The Witcher – a warrior skilled in slaying monsters. A professional, who uses special types of weapons and potions, and trained to be much faster than an ordinary human being. The witchers used to form an elite order of warriors. As children they were taken away from their parents and subjected to trials and mutations, which endowed them with extraordinary abilities. The main hero of the game is a professional slayer of monsters. He is one of the warriors who have been trained to fight since childhood, subjected to mutations and trials that transformed them, so that they remind humans only because of their appearance.

When the game starts our witcher is a young man and not a very experienced slayer of monsters - everything is still before him. He is a talkative, witty and a bit cynical. He often comments on his adventures and events. He looks like a human, but is a mutant, created and trained to fight the most dangerous monsters. He is tall and slender, and although not very beautiful, women consider him handsome. Some changes in his appearance are visible - unnatural color of hair, eyes and complexion, different than that of ordinary humans. This is the result of elixirs he was given as a child. Also his reflex and graceful movements are remarkable.

This is the witcher at the beginning of the game. His personality further on depends on your actions. He can become a noble hero or a foul villain. All his behaviors, actions and deeds are remembered by the inhabitants of this world and are reflected in the character’s Reputation.

Players will be able to create their own witchers or use the pregenerated characters. We have also decided to introduce female witchers - witcherines, so that players could choose the gender of their characters.
