Patch v5.24

Patch compatibility

This patch supersedes all the previous patches and can be installed over any version whether it has been previously patched or not.

New Features

  • Four new death match eam death match maps have been added
    • Bait
    • Duel
    • Hill
    • Offensive
  • Three new cooperative maps have been added
    • Bait
    • Psiops
    • Stronghold
  • Ability to search all types of multiplayer games simultaneously
  • Command Line parameter '-nouimovie' available to disable the movie in the user interface.
  • Game setting overrides now applied on patching
  • certain settings are not compatible with some hardware. The game will now detect these when run and set these settings to known working values. Users can subsequently change these settings should they so desire, as the new settings value 'SettingsSyncTag' logs whether the values have been updated.
  • New shader option added
  • A new shader pipeline has been added on this patch. What was previously called 'High' shader quality is now called 'Highest'. 'High' shader quality now refers to the new shader pipeline. The new pipeline offers similary visual quality to the 'Highest' setting, but has better performance and is available across a broader range of graphics cards.
  • Overbright glow on nVidia 6600GT or 6200TC with 8x.xx drivers
  • A temporary workaround has been provided to resolve the overbright glow until nVidia release updated drivers. The workaround is controlled by the "EnableNVIDIAGlowFix" setting in the Global.settings file and will be set to '1' for the cards listed. Once new drivers are available, this should be deactivated manually by changing the setting to '0' as it has a minor effect on performance. To deactivate the workaround follow the steps below:

1. Open the "global.settings" file found in the My DocumentsEmpire InteractiveSSTSettings folder using a text editor
2. Locate the "EnableNVIDIAGlowFix" field (located under the "Other" field)
3. Change the value from '1' to '0'

Bug Fixes

  • Fixed crashes resulting from using the Audigy series of cards with the latest drivers
  • Stopped player spawning on subsequent rounds until they select 'Join'
  • Permanent stay health pack cheat fixed
  • Fixed crash at application initialisation if user switches to a monitor/graphics card which does not support the currently chosen resolution / refresh rate
  • Multiplayer opponents no longer appear to shake when climbing ladders
  • Fixed bug in multiplayer where particle systems were not being correctly communicated to clients

Patch v4.09.10

New Feature

  • Clients now check that the server is still running before loading all the data for the level.

Bug Fixes

  • Global patch 4.09.10
    • This patch fixes an erroneous copy protection message displayed on certain system configurations after installing patch EuroPatch-3.2.77

    • Problem with visibility determination in an area at the end of the Offensive level has been fixed
  • Multiplayer
    • Significant reduction has been made in the lag experienced by players during multiplayer games
    • The game no longer crashes if players attempt to join late (known issue on patch 3.2.77)
    • Late joiners no longer get all the stored packets from the current game in one go
    • Fixed an issue which allowed players to access out of bound areas
    • Stopped players spawning in mid-air and falling to their deaths as soon as a round starts
    • Players still in the lobby were being rendered prematurely - this no longer happens
    • If a player stays in the lobby between games then they no longer see the names repeated in the lobby
    • Quitting and then rejoining the same game no longer leads to a crash

Patch v3.2.77

Known Issues

- Players joining a deathmatch or team deathmatch late may experience a crash/freeze and we are attempting to rectify this as soon as possible. This problem does not occur on the cooperative mode.

- Users of GeForce 6600 and 6200 will notice overbright glow shaders when using driver version 81.85. User should either use a different driver or follow these steps to rectify the situation
1. Open the "global.settings" file found in the My DocumentsEmpire InteractiveSSTSettings folder using a text editor
2. Locate the "Glow" field (located under the "Other" field)
3. Change the value from '1' to '0' (no glow) or '2' (partial glow)

New Feature

  • A time out feature has been added to the front end so that the player can automatically revert back from a mode unsupported by their graphics card

Gameplay Changes

  • Level attack times have been increased so that players are not as heavily penalised
  • The armour of the larger bugs have been weakened to make them more susceptible to rockets and missiles.
