'Robotech: Invasion' (PS2/Xbox) Original Soundtrack Announced

by Judy on Feb. 10, 2005 @ 1:08 a.m. PST

Jesper Kyd, composer whose credits include soundtracks for the Hitman series, Freedom Fighters and the cinematics for Splinter Cell: Chaos Theory, today announced he has partnered with Nile Rodgers’ Sumthing Else Music Works record label and Sumthing Distribution to release the original soundtrack from the video game Robotech: Invasion.

The album, released in stores on February 15th, will be available at music retailers including Amazon, Best Buy, Borders, Musicland, Tower, and Virgin. The soundtrack is also available to order from Sumthing Else Music Works www.sumthing.com, the #1 record label and distributor of game soundtracks.

Currently available for the PlayStation2 and the Xbox, Robotech: Invasion was developed by Vicious Cycle Software and published by Global Star Software, a publishing label of Take-Two Interactive Software, Inc. under license from Harmony Gold. Eric Peterson, President of Vicious Cycle Software, Inc. said, "We hired Jesper Kyd to create the music for Robotech: Invasion because of the work he has done in the past. The music awards that Jesper has received over the years for games is a testament to the quality of his work. He created a fantastic score for our game and we couldn't be happier with the results. The music is dark, action-packed and full of variety - creating the pace that we wanted to have in the game."

The Robotech: Invasion soundtrack features live choral performances by the Hungarian Radio Choir, combined with Kyd’s distinct electronica and symphonic styles. The Budapest-based choir previously performed vocal duties on Kyd’s soundtracks for Freedom Fighters (Billboard 2004 Digital Entertainment Awards Finalist – "Best Use of Sound in a Game") and Hitman: Contracts (BAFTA Games Awards Finalist – "Original Music.")

Kyd’s other soundtrack album releases include Hitman: Contracts, Freedom Fighters, Brute Force, and Hitman 2: Silent Assassin. He is currently scoring new titles for Eidos and Microsoft and has recorded live symphony sessions in Budapest and Paris where he recorded with a 150-member orchestra and choir for an upcoming project. Most recently he scored the cinematics and additional music for Tom Clancy’s Splinter Cell: Chaos Theory. For more information visit www.jesperkyd.com.
