'Donkey Kong Jungle Beat' (NGC) Drums Its Way To Stores

That tap-tap-tapping you hear is the sound of the most innovative video game control system to come along in years. Get physical with Donkey Kong Jungle Beat, made exclusively for GameCube, by using a pair of bongos to control the game action. Mastering the game requires good timing, bongo abilities and a love of bananas.

"You can work up a sweat while rapping, tapping and clapping your way to high scores," says George Harrison, Nintendo of America's senior vice president of marketing and corporate communications. "When it comes to new ways to have fun with video games, Donkey Kong Jungle Beat more than fits the bill."

This single-player game requires players to time their movements just right, because on-screen characters react to the beats tapped on the bongos. Tap the right drum and Donkey KongĀ® runs to the right. Tap both drums at once and he'll jump. Clap and the built-in microphone will cause him to emit a destructive sound wave. Run, jump, swim, battle or swing on vines – whatever you do, the control is at your fingertips. The beat of the bongos is everything.

Donkey Kong seeks to gather as many bananas as possible while exploring vast jungle kingdoms and battling a variety of enemies like warthogs and giant birds. He'll visit volcanic peaks and snowy mountains while hitching rides with a variety of swimming and flying friends. At the end of each stage, players earn a bronze, silver, gold or platinum crest, depending on how many bananas they have collected. The more crests they collect, the more levels open up.

Fans can visit www.donkeykong.com for more information. Donkey Kong Jungle Beat, Rated E10+ for Everyone 10 and Older, is available now and is available packaged with or without a DK Bongos controller.
