by Rainier on April 21, 2005 @ 5:24 p.m. PDT

Vivendi has released an updated single/multiplayer demo for MadDoc's imminent RTS Empire Earth II. The demo offers 3 of the game's 15 epochs (Renaissance, Imperial, and Enlightenment), and 3 of the game's nine multiplayer modes (Conquest, King of the Hill, and Territory Control), playable for up to 10 players. This updated demo fixes a multiplayer lag issue and adds text string to the firewall warning dialog telling user to map port 26000 (thanks FilePlanet). Read more for download links ...

Playing multiplayer/skirmish on a large map, or with a lot of players, can cause reduced performance on low-end machines. To improve the game's performance on your machine:
- make sure you have the latest drivers
- turn down your Graphics and other settings

If you have software firewall running on your PC (e.g., Windows Firewall), configure it to allow Empire Earth II to act as a server and receive unsolicited UDP traffic on port 26000.

If you have a device that performs NAT (Network Address Translation) such as a 'home gateway', a 'home router', or a 'home firewall', make sure it is configured to forward unsolicited UDP traffic on port 26000 to port 26000 on your PC.

Users may experience graphical problems when using NVIDIA 6694 drivers on Windows 98/Me.

Alt-Tab may work for minimizing the game, but is not officially supported.

Using Alt-F4 to close the game is not supported.
