'Ultimate Baseball Online' - 19 New Screens

by Rainier on July 19, 2005 @ 10:31 a.m. PDT

ESPN announced today the winning teams in the ESPN Ultimate Baseball Online Summer Classic, the first Beta test format tournament for the game. UBO is a unique online gaming experience that puts players in the shoes of a virtual baseball player. Each player views the game from their own perspective on the field and must communicate and cooperate with their teammates to succeed. Unlike most video games, these virtual players were rewarded for their collective on-the-field performance!

The Buzz, a team that entered the ESPN UBO Summer Classic with the lowest experience total of all eight competing teams, beat the Coders 3-2 to walk away with Apple iPod mini portable music players. The second place 'Coder' team received autographed baseball bats from former World Champion and two-time all star Darrell Evans.

"We're thrilled with how well our first tournament went," said Len Mead, Director New Media Content. "Just like in professional baseball, the best players in ESPN's Ultimate Baseball Online can earn huge rewards. We plan to hold many more events in the future that will involve more teams and even bigger prizes."

In order to participate in future tournaments, gamers can sign up for their free trial version of ESPN Ultimate Baseball Online by visiting here, the game is currently in its final testing stage and will continue to be free of charge until it is officially launched later this year.
