'Gary Grigsby's World At War' Coming To Europe

by Rainier on July 22, 2005 @ 8:59 a.m. PDT

Gary Grigsby's World at War takes you through four World War II scenarios where five playable powers battle across thirty-eight different countries with fifteen different unit types. Black Bean will be releasing Gary Grigsby's World at War on the 23rd Sept.

Gary Grigsby's World at War has already been hailed as an elegant and accessible game design with adjustable realism and detail; where the difficulty can be tailored to your specific level and your opponents range from a challenging computer AI to up to four other human players. With a beautiful world map and detailed historical playing pieces, you will see the world as it stands on the brink of World War II and rushes headlong into chaos. Command your nation with brilliance and resolve or defeat will surely be just around the corner.

Rules cover everything from strategic movement to cold weather, nuclear weapons, and even deal with managing supply lines in the advanced mode of the game. With a top-notch AI, Play-by-Email capability, and two in depth tutorials, World at War will make you a general in a day but keep you occupied year round.

How many World War II games have you played recently? Too many probably. How many of these were actively recreating the difficult moments of strategic choices without making explosions and frantic action the main focus of the game? How many of them were making every choice look like a chess player waiting to make the decisive move?

It's Second World War and the player's ability is measured just in the careful and sharp management of resources joined with strategy behest skills. And the battle outcome wouldn't be the one we historically know...

Choosing between 5 different Army (Germany, Japan, Union Soviet, Western Alliance and China) you will administer air, naval and land combats and manage resources both on the territory and on the conquered land.

In World at War you will lead armies to victory by honing their abilities in research and development, creating a more powerful force than any other on the planet. The bigger and more expensive units take longer to build and are invested in over time rather than being an instant purchase.

You will have to plan several game turns in advance, tailoring far-reaching strategies to fit the current strategic situation in this dynamic turn-based game and test strategies that long-past generals and world leaders could only dream of.

Releasing the 23rd September 2005 on PC, World at War sets new boundaries on all strategic genre fans. World at War has already successfully released in North America and has been acclaimed by specialist press as one of the most innovative and strong strategy games ever produced.
