Meridian4 Signs 'Vigil Episode 1: Blood Bitterness'

by Rainier on May 3, 2007 @ 8:37 a.m. PDT

End of last year GarageGames signed the game, but now it seems Meridian 4 also picked it up. Vigil: Blood Bitterness, previously known as Victi: Blood Bitterness, is a 3D episodic, black & white, moody adventure game where you play a character trapped on an asteroid, a relic of an ancient civilization.

“We are very excited to have found a cooperation with Meridian4, who follows our development while preserving our artistic independence” said Manuel Ruiz Dupont of Freegamer.

“The word ‘unique’ is thrown around a lot when describing games, but Vigil is a truly unique title. When we first played it, we were transfixed and then when we learned about the developer and their original point of view to game development, we were hooked.” said Steve Milburn, Director at Meridian4.

Players will be plunged into a dark and disturbing story to reveal the secrets of an ancient civilization’s relics and exact revenge on the Evil destroying their universe. Ritualistic killings and blood lust blur the line between their own kind and the Evil they seek to annihilate.

Their ultimate goal is to free themselves from this tormenting place and understand the origin and the purpose of this uncanny Evil. An Evil that annihilates all in its path, it has no shape but seems to follow a precise scheme, drowning everything under a black essence; it is impossible to stop or even to slow down. Since its birth, the universe is slowly disappearing.

Avoid traps, solve puzzles and devour the faces of their slaves for sustenance.

Engrossing cut scenes bring every brutal detail as the gothic sci-fi story unfolds and plunges players into confusion. The chilling music, menacing characters and stylized black and white presentation draw them deeper into this gruesome, episodic 3D adventure game.
