May is a landmark month for RuneScape developer, Jagex Ltd, who today announced its popular RPG has now exceeded one million subscribers worldwide. Members paying just $5/month are able to access exclusive quests, skills and a huge map of the fantasy world Gielenor, to explore.

“Reaching the record breaking 1 million member mark is a massive milestone for RuneScape. It is a huge acknowledgement from our global gaming community that being presented with new adventures and challenges in a rapidly evolving world are what gamers want in a multiplayer online game,” said Constant Tedder, Managing Director of Jagex Ltd. “Development efforts have been rewarded with a steady and steep rise in player numbers. And we’re not resting on our laurels - there’s a huge amount still to come!”

The browser based game has attracted popularity across the globe with strong subscriber communities in the United States, United Kingdom, Canada, Australia and Scandinavia. The game continues to attract new players from around the world. Jagex recently launched a new German-language RuneScape beta, packed with the same hugely compelling features that have made the English-language version so widely popular.

Developed and published by Jagex Ltd in Cambridge, England, RuneScape has attracted a solid core audience aged between 14 – 24, built entirely by word of mouth. Its rigorous security policy makes safety a number one priority for Jagex who now have over 150 support staff able to deal with any issues that arise around the world 24/7.
